Republicans and libertarians, many independents and democrats and others all swear by constitutional rights to bear arms. With all the real gun violence lately and fake threats made real, like the drug war and war on terror. Many of all walks of life are considering gun control of some form. My current thought on this subject and how this issue can be addressed is who profits the most and who takes the most bullets. The answer for bullets seems to be foreign people in other countries hands down, from u.s. made or backed weapons and other sources. next is homicide. Gunshot homicides totaled 8,124 in 2014, according to the F.B.I.. Next comes police related shootings where not all data is reported. Officers killed in the line of duty was for one year around 50 with 44 of them killed with firearms. There is no reliable national data on how many people are shot by police officers each year.officers voluntarily self reporting “justifiable homicides” by police officers each year is around 400, according o the F.B.I.. According to http://www.killedbypolice.net/
there are 1156 verified people killed by police in 2016.
Who profits is pretty obvious. the arms industry is huge and has ties to every government and many politicians and political lobbying organizations. So them.
Every time i hear about gun control initiatives it is on clip size (which is changeable) or types of weapon ammo restrictions (that effect the most law abiding consumers that depend on retail, which is to say mostly not the threats militia make there own criminals circumvent the law or buy illegally) or types of weapons (easy to build illegal weapons from legal parts) or restrictions for certain groups of people , usually handicapped or foreign , but these people account for around 1% of gun violence. The best answer has been to require training and a license but training tends to teach you not to accidentally shoot someone and maybe some tactics. so mandatory training is good but won't do much. The other issue with a license process is that it will most likely add gun owners to a list. no one should be able to see a list of every gun owner or every pet owner or every jew ect. it is against the human right to privacy and is dangerous.
so what can we do through legislation to stem the flow of guns or decrease ammunition to deaths.
what would limit fire power to killers? and what would limit killers.
limiting killers comes by increasing standards of living and education. increasing equality and fairness. and decreasing prohibition. these alone will decrease injustice and if the justice system is also fixed, recidivism will fall. with just theses things crime will drop and the work force be more robust plus why stop there.
As for how to decrease fire power that seems to be more an issue of supply and demand where i think the demand and the suppliers need to be addressed not by placing arbitrary restrictions on consumers that are not even the problem most of time.
