So my neighbor, who doesn't grow but is cool with my stuff, came over yesterday to tell me that he caught some dude trying to hop the fence between our property. He yelled at the guy and the dude hopped back over my neighbor's back fence and high-tailed it down the railroad tracks. You can't get into my back yard from the railroad tracks behind my house due to the 8 foot high fence and roughly 40 feet of gnarly thick blackberry bushes, so I guess the would-be theif tried to go thru my neighbor's yard into mine. Since that fence adjoining our properties is the only possible point of entry into my back yard, I plan on setting up some booby traps and sleeping in a tent with my paintball gun for the rest of the summer...

Anyways, I was curious how you guys keep dirty lowlife scumbags out of your crops. I'm also open to any tips on how to protect my 25 girls.

Peace, love, and hack-e-sack.

I have no idea who it could be... It's possible some drunk passer-by walking the railroad tracks sniffed it out - its starting to reek pretty good. The only people that I've showed are people that I have known for like at least ten years - people that I would trust with my life, let alone my weed. Besides that the only other people are my neighbors on either side - one of them is an old couple that are totally cool (the ones who warned me about the would-be robber), and the other is a cool ass dude that has like three times more plants than me...

But now that I think about it - maybe that dude showed some shady cats his stuff and they saw my crop over the fence from his back porch and they decided to leave his shit alone and instead come at me from the other side?

Hmmm...

Lol I already have two dogs - they are the cutest, most useless fucking dogs ever though. I'm never letting my wife pick our pets again...how the fuck are a Pomeranian and a damn Weiner dog supposed to protect my crop?!

hehehe.......put the paintballs in the freezer, its one way i keep cats outa my plot..... there an oil based bio-degradable oil, so they dont freeze. when you put them in the freezer the oil slows and becomes more dence, making the paintball like....MUCH harder.... it doesn't kill a cat, so it will just hurt the dude, ALOT (it will kill a cat when shooting 300+ FPS so.....).

and set up a string of barbed wire (not A1 razor wire...) along the inside of your fence. you can use the excuse that its for some dog, and when the thief grabs ahold of it......he might think its a bad idea to jack you shwag.

screw it all, tent+paintball (frozen)+Pomeranian = foolproof. use the ratdog as the alarm to know when hes around, jump out and shoot his ass (the thief) tourny style.

anything that makes your life easier right now...do it...i have the same problems every year.ive got cameras, wirless motion sensors, solar charged motion triggered flood lights that i move around in my garden constantly, plus i usually usually employ my nephews as guards...its just one of those things that goes with outdoor growing.it seems like every year it gets worse.be very careful dude...last year in my area there were a lot of home invasions.dogs work fine but a buddy of mine had his dogs poisoned last year at night by thieves...i guess the whole point to my reply is an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure...anything that you can set up to deter thieves right now is worth it...good luck.i sympathise

You might want to get like a dog electric fence.... which is wire.... you can put it at the top of your fence so if the intruder hops tries to hop the fence he gets shocked... and this kind of electric fence does hurt... Had to test it out when we put it in for my buddy...
you can even put it around the bottom of the fence to maybe even trip the intruder....

Don't freak'n hurt the guy, even though he deserves the "American History X" treatment! "Put your mouth on the curb!" You WILL goto jail unless you can prove self defense! even on your property... I know it sux! Remember the guy who broke out of jail or prison, got cut up really bad on razer wire, got nerve damage, sued the state and F'n WON several million $, because the wire was put there by a state contracted employee. How that happens, I do not understand. you do not want this thief owning your home! be carful, get a BIG ASSED dog, put up beware of dog signs, must have those to keep from being sued! put one every 5 or so feet along your fence! Good Luck!

Not an expert on electricity but I think you need to be grounded to catch a shock. so across top of fence may not be such a good idea. I say about 5 feet out from fence, about crotch high should work! :fire:

tape some razor blades to the inside top edge of your fence, then keep an eye out for someone with bandages on their hands. i have learned that no matter how good of a friend you think you have, everyone is out for themselves.

I hear some good ideas that may work in theory, but I think sleepin it out is your best bet. I mean the electric fence idea sound good, and the bushes sound great, but are not foolproof. So, I would sleep it out, and hope you get the sneaky fuck. Why can't people leave other people, and their shit alone these days? Get some balls and grow your own, or find your own hustle. There is plenty enough for all of us to get by. Keep it real in the fields. Peace.
