I dont know what the layout of your grow room is, but it would help a lot to have an active intake and active exhaust. Also, use the principle that hot air rises to your advantage, you want your exhaust to be from near the top of your room, and intake to be from the floor. Having both an active intake and exhaust reduces stress on the fans and allows more air to be moved. That said, 84 degrees isnt bad, its not optimal, but its not gonna kill the plants.

i have a fan in front of my passive intake hoping that it will increase air flow in.....i have my fan in the attic just above the hole in the cieling.....at first i ran my fan through the cieling with flex hose connected to the light hood....too hot 84 degreese. then i took the vent hose off the hood and cut it so the end of the hose is about 1 foot from ceiling and not much more distance from the fan sucking out.....so my cage fan is 465 sucking out a 2' long...4" wide hose.......with one ocoliating fan on plants and one fan trying to pull air in from the passive intake.

I was having the same issue as you recently using a 400 and a 4' vortex fan pulling air out. My intake is passive 4' hole, I was considering buying another and or bigger inline fan, but I mad a few adjustments and it worked, here they are
I shortened my hose length coming off the inline fan it was about 10 feet, shortened that to about 3 feet, also the hose in the top of the room was hanging I cut that so it is flush with the top of the room, also I moved the ballast of the grow floor and put it 4 feet in the air ( to later be attached to a hook on the cieling) also I had a fan blowing on the lamp I took that fan out of the growroom, now I have installed a carbon scrubber to my out hole (still good temps) also on my intake hole I attached a vent line so that the fresh air is coming out in the middle of my space instead of at the edge, by the way my space is 3x2x8 I don't know If i listed that right
Temps went down from 85 to 79 with outside room temp at 70 so hopefully when I get up to 72 the hottest I will be in the room is 81-83

do i need to increase my passive air size.........my temp with door closed satys at a constant 83.5...with door open........82.0. so i lose 1 and a half degree decrease when i have a lot of "passive "intake "door open". so to be honest i dont think its the intake, or the 465 in a 300 cu' room....or the 400 hps.....do i need to take a 4" line from my ac in attic and run a flex hose to the floor in my room?
