GrowinTheDank || (PPP) Pure Power Plant - First Grow

Just germed my first seed ever at 1:00 A.M. 10/26/12

Starting off with 1x PPP seed from nirvanashop.com

I'll post more pictures of my setup updates etc. soon. All advice/tips is welcome.

I was just banned from the IRC for being underaged after posting this link..I don't understand.

Anyways..let me know what you think.

*Posting now to read all advice/suggestions/recommendations etc. before purchases are made.
*Not planning on upgrading much after this one big purchase.
*I intend to have all this sitting in my room ready for the 2nd grow.

Anything you'd change?

First things first, my seed's name is Timmy.

I was afraid I placed Timmy upside down in the soil by mistake. My nerves finally got the best of me so I went to check him out.

I sifted around the soil with a pencil and soon saw that Timmy had popped! I was happy as fuck, but saw his tap root growing straight up while his seed casing pointed straight down. :/

So I fluffed up the soil, watered/misted it, then properly and carefully placed Timmy into his new seed pocket (hole in the soil) about 1/8” deep (with the tap root down, and seed casing up this time).

Now I'm thinking we're good to grow. My t5's sitting about 5" from the top of the cup. I'm using glad wrap as a ghetto humidome. The wrap is not air tight, I want a little bit of air flow while maintaining decent humidity levels. I didn't have a fan in there at first, but I feel it's necessary after seeing 88 degree temps. I have the fan pointed upwards so Timmy's still in a nice little pocket of warm humid air.

Any thoughts/suggestions/critiques etc. are welcome here. It's impossible for you to hurt my feelings, so post freely!

I think tammy has ample room for sisters =) Looks like you cover everything for a happy girl in your shopping list. What is your overall nute schedule? Veg/flower nutes?

Nothing but 6.2 PH Fridge water (tap water through a filter) for the first 2-3 weeks.

After that I'll start with 1/4th the recommended dosage of my Recipe For Success Starter Kit. As the plant grows I'll work my way up in dosage.

Weekly Feeding/Watering Cycle = FEED, WATER, FEED, WATER


Oh yeah definitely expect more plants soon man. I'm just seeing how the germination on my first one goes. Already had one mishap as you might have read That means my plan is working.

Once Timmy sprouts expect a few more cups under there

That's why the name remains Timmy for now! hahaha

Also, do you guys think it would be safe for me to flip on the other 4 bulbs? I've only got the 4 bulb setting running right now. I'm doing 24/0 if that has any effect, timer isn't in yet of-course. I think I'm going to stick to 24/0 though due to my lighting being somewhat insufficient.

listen dude! If and by that i do mean if your timmy becomes uh shall we say a shim? for now? No loss brother call him dr. frakenfurter!

A couple things...
I'd put a fan of some sort in there even though it's ine plant...keep the air moving
How many bulbs do you have in your T-5 right now? Yeah, one plant doesn't need much, but you will be surprised how fast weeds grow
Hobbes and I differ on the light mover, but in a closet it will allow larger grows with less bulbs.
Speaking of bulbs...I stay away from Digilux...I have a SunMaster 600w CMH.
That said, if you are using the MH for veg in a closet, a 400w MH might do you just fine, too.....along with the ballast you are looking at. (Poor grammar, but proper grammar often sounds stupid LOL)

That black thing in the 2nd pic is a fan sitting on top of my T5 pointed directly upwards.

I've got 16 bulbs, 8 red 8 blue. Right now the T5 has 8 bulbs in it and only 4 bulbs are lit (4bulb setting on T5). I was asking if I could flip on all 8 right now. I'd be using this bulb formation: V V F V V F V V

I've never read anything from Hobbes in regards to light movers. Do you have a link to any information? What are your thoughts on light movers? I figured in order to obtain optimal light distribution in my 5x2 space I'd need either 2x 600w, or 1x 600w on a light mover. The light mover seems much more efficient; less ventilation required, less electricity, equal light distribution, etc.

I'll definitely be looking into SunMaster's bulbs and maybe a few other companies. Why do you stay away from Digilux?? How do you like the CMH? I've heard mixed opinions on them..

Well with the current setup I have in mind, a 400w is not in the shopping cart. I mean I will have a dimmable ballast so I suppose I could turn my 600 down if necessary, but why? Or are you saying to add the 400w with my 600 going at the same time? Either way I just don't see it happening. Convince me though.

I wasn't sure what I was reading from your wish list. If you are going to use your T-5 to veg then you can spend your $$$ elsewhere than on an MH. Did I mis-read it?

In the tutorial that Hobbes wrote and you hooked me into, we had different thoughts about light movers. I was talked out of it by Scooby because yes it was more efficient than 2 bulbs and 2 reflectors....but you do have to deal with your duct work. My thoughts were also that in spreading the light over a larger area it does take care of the edges, but it doesn't concentrate like a set light, although the lights are close to the canapy and move slowly.

So I went with set lights with strong side lights. To be honest I don't think you can go wrong. So will you keep your closet for flower only in the future? I'm still not quite seeing what you are thinking LOL.

I'm not quite sure what a CAP product is, but I will take your word for it. When should I switch the 4 bulb setting to 8?

I'll explain what I was thinking lol.

Yeah all growth will be on this side of the closet. The other side will be for my ducting, storage, etc. In the end my closet will be totally stealth. You'll have no clue what's goin' on in there even if someone managed to get in my room, which is very doubtful.

600w light on a light mover track. 440cfm fan pulling air through a carbon filter exhausting air into ceilng from ducting that goes straight up(this will be on my non-grow side of the closet). I'm cutting a vent hole in the ceiling for the ducting to exhaust into my attic. I'm going to have 4 plants under my light, or 2 with a SCROG, whatever I'm doing at the time. I also kind of want to get a CO2 regulator eventually. I really want to make my space perfect. HIGH quality dank

I kind of like your side lighting idea though..I'm not sure now. What kind of side lighting do you have specifically? I could put some on my back wall and left side wall. I know for sure I'm going to get some reptile lights. Probably a 100w and use it as supplemental lighting for 5 hours a day during the flowering period.


Also, I was thinking of just setting the T5 aside once I got my 600. Probably just use it for germination or something idk. What do you think I could do with it? Side lighting?

I haven't done it from seed in forever... I kept mine in a humidity dome for a while, like an inch or so... may be old info and not accurate but I had no worries, ever, except the usual newbie over-watering stuff. Light means very little until she sprouts, then hit her with everything you've got... then as she is growing, I suggest that you find some way to keep the government from coming and destroying your operation... to me, if you aren't being active somehow to getting the government out of our business, then you are wasting my time.
If someone got into that room, are they going to see the timer and the wires heading right into the closet?
I know how you felt and I still marvel at the gardens and thinking that it all started with just a seed... God is good... yes indeed.

When the plants "sleeping" its braking down the sugars it made while t it was awake. And basically feeding and growing. This is what the local hydro shop says, but it makes since. Plants need sleep just like we do.

Gah my timer isn't in yet. I had to ship it back to Greners because the one they initially shipped had a broken display straight out the package..Would it be safe to switch to 18/6 once I have it (3-4 days if not less)? I think yes, I'm almost positive.
