ummmm.... usually when people see someone put "ha" or "lol", they usually think that person does have a sense of humor... but i guess Luda didn't like my little comment....he's sensitive at times....It's hard for some people to have a sense of humor for some reason.
We are supposed to be here helping people not discussing my sense of humor...........
i have used paper towels before on my first grow.hey Luda...i don't understand how would you know the plants grow stronger if this is your only method of germinating...
and i'm sure many people have grown strong, healthy, robust plants from germinating in a towel...
and are you saying, because you use Nirvana, that is why all your seeds sprouted, because i have also read good reviewsw and complaints...
not saying that planting a seed in soil isn't helpful or the correct way (since its mother natures way)...but... i don't see how germinating in a towel will produce weaker plants... all you're doing is moving a seed with a taproot and placing it in soil... and your statement is basically saying, germinating in ANYTHING besides soil will produce a weaker plant then a seed germinated in soil... their are so many options for mediums, would this be a correct assessment

never had a seed not germ in about 60+ seeds.
3rd grow.
(i germ seeds for my friends to get them started regularly).
maybe its just luck.
i always use NIRVANA seeds only(never bagseed).
thanks and i have only been involved in growing for a couple of years so time will tell.Myself I have not grown from bagseed for ages and ages. I began using bagseed back in the 70s, which of course was back in an era when there was no other option for most people in the world other than bagseed if they wanted to grow their own. Since the advent of seedbanks and the Internet and international shipping of seeds like most people I purchased seeds created by professional breeders through seedbanks. I would guess, and I do stress that this is only a guess, that I would likely have around a 94% germ rate since being able to purchase professionally produced seeds.
So you have germed around 60+ seeds and had a 100% germ rate. I have popped close to that in a single year when I had both indoors and outdoors grows and if we count bagseed I have popped more than that at a time when I had large outdoor grows back in the 70s and the 80s. What I found using bagseed is that when I cherry picked the very best looking seeds my germ rate pretty much equaled that of what I later had using professionally produced seeds.
I have had every single bagseed bean pop and I once purchased two 10-packs of beans from a big name breeder and not a single bean from either pack popped. As I said eventually someone will receive beans that are not viable, it just happens now and than and no technique for germing will overcome a bean that is not viable regardless of what is done. You just cannot make chicken salad out of chicken shit no matter how much mayonnaise you use.
While I would say that for most people using the paper towel method might be best and if nothing else it at least give them more confidence and the ability to see if their beans popped or not I have also heard and read and know of many people who after their beans popped damaged a taproot or two and had one or two less plants because of it. They can still say their beans popped and they had a high to total germ rate in the end they were no better off than if one or two had not popped because by handling the beans they ended up with fewer plants than they had popped beans. So it can be a double edged sword, a roll of the dice, something of a gamble or a six of one or a half dozen of the other situation.
Anyone who has done this for a while is bound to have read messages about or know people who have tried to pop beans using the paper towel method and did not do it correctly and ended up with nothing or next to nothing because they let their paper towels dry out or they ended up with popped beans and mold and they died. No method is guaranteed or 100% regardless of your success with around 60+ beans. But by the time you have grown for 37 years you will have learned that.
As for Nirvanas gear I am happy to learn that you have had such great success with it because I have read and been told very numerous horror stories about their products and stories about people being unhappy with the quality of their plants and about the terrible dealings they have had with Nirvana and they are far more than enough for me to know I will never give them any of my money.
I hope your luck holds.

i am not even 37 years old nevermind 37 years growing(thats dedication).
CRIS.
been to see the new guns and roses and velvet revolver live.I am not sure that it can be called dedication or what but as I like to say I have been doing this since before most people here were nothing more than the gleam in the eyes of two strangers at a Guns & Roses concert.
Also been using this method even germed them in soil outdoors way back when I used to live in the caribean. With healthy seeds you always get 100% results when you put them in soil. The more you mess with them at an early stage, the easier it is for stuff to go wrongI have ALWAYS placed mine directly into the soil and havnt had a single one not sprout! they ALL germ'd. Took about 4 days to see them.
