Growing With Floros

I want to grow a small room a 5' by 5' by 6'h for flowering and 4' by 4' by 7'h for the mamas and veg/pre flower. I want to grow on all cfl and florous. I want to know what other peoples experiences have been and how many lumens i will need for both areas. Im a newbie but i want to grow on florous cause they use less energy and im kinda a green freak. plus i dont want to deal with the heat. Can I over kill on the lights? I just basicaly need help i have a lote of ideas but little knowledge so i dont know if there any good. Please help.

personally i would go with atleast a 400 hps for the flowering,cfls/t5s never are powerful enough to do the trick.
i would go 400 on top then keep the cfls for side and bottom lighting.
and trust me fresh air and venting does alot so keep those in mind.:peace:

steve is pretty much right, i tried CFL, it can work but you need so many of them and the plants grow so much slower its just not worth it. however the heat is much less, thats about the only real benefit compared to running a HPS or MH light.

A couple of things. First if you want to see what can be done with cfl's get the book. It's written by SeeMoreBuds, 'Marijuana Buds For Less'. In it the author explains, with pictures for everything you need to know, how he grew 8oz. of dry bud from 3- female plants using 8-42 watt cfl's. Day 68. '69 days ago the seed cracked. Today she is harvested.' Seem like it takes longer??

Alright, I used to use a 600 watt haloigen, but people on this site told me to discard it, So now i'm using two 4ft flourescent bulbs. I've actually seen the difference. Cfl's should help control how tall you will grow you're plant, but like they've said, it's not good when flowering. So me being a cheap bastard, i've set up the halogen again, but not to replace the Floros. It's set up on the floor where heat is not an issue and i've started to bud only after a few days with 12/12. But to my horrible knowledge, it's going to be a male, but it could be a hermie which i'll grow any way. but with small space do use cfl.

i have a 250w MH that i got from a friend for free. but i would still rather take the time and just over kill with cfls and regular t8 or t5. at least i know it can be done now. I have a book by hans that is the sea of green/ perpatual harvest. thats what im shooting for with my set up. just enough to supply myself and my family. Can i use nutes and super thrive to make up for the "slow growth" or if i use enough side light and an over kill with above light will that make up for it? And sence i will only be growing the clones to about 18" before flowering will it really matter using the cfls and t8s? when i started thinking of this method i figgured it would be fine for flowering sence i will be growing them to only about a foot before flowering and then just harvesting every 2 to 3 weeks.

I grew my 1st plant with 4 CFL 23w bulbs 3 to 1 ratio on the spectrum and got 1.5 ounces in soil with no experience. Now for my next project I'm stepping up to one 430w T5 for veg in hydro and a few 280w 4 bulb overdriven T8s to finish them up in soil but so far i only got 560w in T8 setup
