Growing weed in Ireland

Just curious as to how many people grow there own in Ireland... What do you's think??? hundreds??? Thousands???? Is there statistics from any other countries???

With a population of 6.3 million people, I would say 10's of thousands......just a guess-timate..IMO

As with any black market activity there's no way to accurately quantify it. The only figures available would be Garda detection rates, but they wouldn't even begin to scratch the surface. The only way to figure it out would be to run an anonymous survey, but even then many smokers wouldn't trust the survey takers enough to take part.

Homegrown weed is available on the black market but at a very high price compared to other western countries, which suggests to me that growing at home is much more common in the US/UK where prices are lower and quality is higher. There's no way to even guess at how many grow at home in Ireland for their own use. My guess is that the Irish still smoke much more foreign hash than locally grown products.

North African hash is cheap and so widely available that many Irish wouldn't bother taking the risks associated with a grow setup. The fact that even Afghan hash is often cheaper and more widely available in Ireland than good quality Irish buds is for me at least an indicator that more Irish grows would be a very good thing. I would really love to know how much Irish money goes to Morocco every year - I believe that if we could put accurate numbers on our drug imports from that one country alone it would be hugely valuable in opening the eyes of politicians and the wider public to the economic bennefits of legalisation. Maintaining existing laws serve no credible purpose at this stage other than to funnel vast sums of money through the hands of thugs (and sometimes the bent government officials who protect them) and off the island.

Hi, first time poster, some time lurker, this thread has inspired me to post as it combines two subjects near and dear to my heart, Ireland and I haven't been to Ireland yet although I'm going to school in the U.S. and am planning on doing a semester abroad in Ireland at the University of Limerick in a year or two provided the world hasn't ended or what have ya. For when I do get there, I was wondering what the bud scene is like? From the sounds of this thread not too good huh? There's no Fenian Haze or Cucullen Kush or anything like that? That'd be sweet if there was. I am also wondering, do you, or have you ever gone to some oldschool historic sites and blazed? I think that would be pretty bad ass to stand on Tara hill and ripe one with the ancients

I did 1 out of 10,000 people as growing, a number that is low by my guess. Way low. So at a minimum that would be 630 people. Probably thousands of growers.

If 10% smoke that is 630,000. If 1% of those grow that is 6,300 growers, more like the number I think is happening.

I think 10,000 would be low too. Hopefully there are 10x that.
