Growing upside down?

Anyone here every heard of or tried growing herb upside down, like they do with tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, peppers and herbs?

Anyone think it will work?

doesnt this spin at a slow speed so that the plants aren't inverted all the time? i just have a hard time believing that any plant will grow upside down.
