Growing only ONE plant, how many lights?

It is a bit heavy for one plant, but I suggest a MH/HPS combo light, they make ballasts that support both, but I thinkt he smallest is 400. A 250 would be ideal for only one plant but a larger light will only increase your yield. If you get the combo you can use MH for the 18/6 or 24/0 (whatever your preference) and switch to hps for 12/12, all while only using one light, that you only need to change the bulb for and flip a switch.
What kind of light do you have that has a switch? Jeez...does mine have a switch and I didn't know...my HPS bulb burned out after 1/2 of 1 grow...lol...Perhaps this is why...the thing cam with no directions at all...I assumed that when I changed the bulb it would just work both bulbs...

but shit's $$$$$$ here and I can't fork out hundred of dollars for a ballast and lights just for one plant.
Don't cheat yourself, pay the money for a good light, otherwise you will not get good results. Ask yourself this.... How much would 1 ounce of premium bud cost you to buy from your friends? I would spend at least that much on your set up, if you do, you will be rewarded with many ounces from your 1 plant instead of a 1/2oz of sub par bud from sub par lighting. For example my friend did not want to use High intensity lighting in his grow room: For the same 2x4 space he yielded just under 1oz of dried, fluffy bud (He used T5's). I yielded from the same space 8ounces (I used a CMH). I also was able to flower sooner, and finish sooner thanks to in part.... adequate lighting.

thats just my two cents, take it or leave it

Stick.with the bottled.water or get a reverse osmosis if that's available in your area. Do not use a water softener.
