Growing my White Widow

Okay this is my theory on how I am going to do my stuff (Please point out all the wrong things I am going to do)

Germinate seed - get a plate put a damp paper towel on plate then put seed on paper towl and cover with upside down bowl keep towel damp for a few days until seed root has broke and grew to around 1/4 of an inch

Stick soil into small plastic cup poke a hole in soil with pencil around 5 cm? put seed in root first, cover with soil

water every 12 hours? (not sure if it needs to be once a day or more because its so young)

once its around 2ft put into bigger pot

water once a day

keep growing and weed plant will sprout lots of buds and I become rich and live happily ever after

Sevreal flaws I think I have made:

nutrients?

tap water (I live in a REALLY big "hard water" area)?

How much I should water it?

How far deep I need to put seed into soil?

by the way I am growing indoor with fluorescent light in a big wooden box what I am going to insulate with foil

Please help this wreckless soul :leaf: <- my love heart

Make sure to fold paper towel over the seed while germinating and keep dam, but your method sounds right. Seed in dirt root down is right, not too deep, just enough to get a little soil over it, Don't water right away if your soil is pretty moist. Let it pop up first and make sure cup is not clear and has drain holes in the bottom. Transplant way before 2ft mark. Move it to a bigger pot, but not full of soil. Leave some room to add more around the bottom of the plant a little later. You'll probably need to move on to a 3-5 gallon pot before flowering. I stick mine in a 3 gal at the first transplant. I start the seed in a jiffy pot. One transplant leaves less room for damaging roots, but you can do it several times if you're carefull. I won't start on nutes until after a few weeks once it's nice and strong. Lots of good nutes to choose from. Just do a little research. I like the fox farm stuff, big bud, and tiger bloom, but there's a ton of good stuff available. Don't use foil to line your box. You'll burn your plants. Use mylar or flat white paint. CFLs will do fine, just use the right ones for veg and flower and get plenty of them. Don't forget to ventilate your box. Keep the temp right and give the girls some fresh air. They'll repay you later

Watering should be done verytime the soil goes dries. Allowin the soil to completely dry before watering enolcourages roots to spread out in search for water. For seeds keep it moist not damp.

It's 1gallon of grow medium for every foot of hieght she will grow. For every foot of plant you has about 2feet of roots under her. Avoid rootbounding a plant. (if slow growth she's prob rootbound)

As for nutrients always start off with 1/2 to 1/4 the strength recommended to feed. Do not feed every watering soil can hold nutrients for quite some time & adding nutrients too often can cause nutrient burn or root lock in which your roots won't feed at all.

As for the tap water fill up a large container with water & let it air out in room temperature for about 24-48 hours so all the chlorine can evaporate.

Using foil for a reflective material is a bad idea. Your gong to get higher temps& possibly hot spots that can burn your plants leaves. Mylar or panda wrap is pretty cheap online & you will use up every lumen possible.

Cfls. Your looking for a color temperature (Kelvin value) of 6500k for Vegg. 2700k for flowering. Mixing both color spectrums is great too. Your plant will love it. Your looking 3-5000lumens per square feet of your grow area.

Air flow is a must fresh air in & old air out makes sure you plant has enough co2 to breath In. & a fan swaying her will promote a thicker stem growth.

Anything else you might be wondering about I'd be glad to steer you in the right direction :peace:

Nice one, some pretty awesome comments pretty fast,

okay I shall buy some mylar wrap, would it be good to insulate the whole box with it or just the tops + sides?

What temperture will I need my plant to grow at?

This is the light I have, I bought it because I can stick it into my plug socket and its just really simple, would it be good for me to buy another one or is one okay? or was it a stupid idea buying it without asking people here first?

I read on a few sites 25 watts is okay to grow a plant at, I am not sure if this is the case though as I have seen threads with 1k watts and stuff

I saw a video from here where they use several ingredients for the soil, is there any soil I can just buy and use straight away or do I need to buy several ingredients?

Thanks for your input guys

Cfls are great but you need to maxamize your lumens. This is why I strongly reccomend you cover the entire grow are with the Mylar so all the lumens are being reflected back to your girl for healthy growth. Ideal temps are 70-85 degrees. A neat trick is to keep temps as low as possible during flowering so She produces more resin on her buds.

Go with peat moss for dirt. I personally love it. It's real soft so your roots are cozzy & it retains water real well. To avoid overwatering fill your buckets with water & lift it to feel how heavy it is & then don't water untill the soil is really dry & lift the bucket to feel the weight it has now lost. There is a significant difference in a wet heavy bucket & dry light bcket this way you'll knw when she's do for a watering.

Your going to need more cfls as your plant gets bigger. 1cfl is good for keeping a plant alive not keeping it growing. No such thing as too much light

Thanks for that, basically cleared all my questions at this stage, I shall use peat moss

7- 85 degrees <- is this in Fahrenheit or Celsius?

Is this okay for soil:

thanks forgot to ask, how much light will I need for the plant when its starting to grow and once it gets bigger how much then?

Looks really good. But i think it needs to be transplanted earlier than that. I did mine at 8 days. And you would definitely be overwatering it. water once, then wait till top soil is crusty and then water again. That mean about 2-3 days depending on how much you water it and how hot it is. Third, make sure you leave the tapwater out for atleast 24 hours and have it open to air.

your aimin for 3/5000 lumens per square foot of grow space your plant is using. So dothe math with the bulbs you are using

Okay, cheers guys, I am gonna keep you up to date, the lumens is okay as I figured out in my area there should be more than enough, how long should I do the light with my babies?

16-8?

Should I use worm castings in my moss peat? - Or anything else?

Im gonna try lst for my my babies, is it true that the lights need to be 1-2 inches away from the plant? (I am using mylar wrap if this makes a difference)

EDIT: I dont have room for a fan, is this an essential thing I need, how would it effect my plant?

Can the big leaves be used for anything, or should I just dispose them?
