Growing in upstairs apartment

If I live in a upstairs apartment and NO ONE is on either side of me, would the renter's below me be able to smell the 1 or 2 plants Im growing with no exhaust out of the house???

No. I live in an upstairs apartment. I grow a single plant in my closet. I don't smell it until I walk into the room, and the people below me who happen to be friends that I smoke with, don't smell anything either.

You don't have a carbon scrubber or nothing ??

Proper ventilation and a good carbon filter goes a long way

Yes they will. Depending on the apartment HVAC system they might all share a return thats If you don't have electric heat or central air, which can and will stink up the whole building if so. Buy a carbon filter or a ozone generator.

No, I don't have a scrubber, but I should also mention that my complex doesn't have A/C either... so that is likely why...

Make a DIY filter with pencil cups, panty hose, and activated carbon.. the tut is somewhere here on RIU

No exhaust? You can't grow without an intake and a out take..

I beg to differ. My intake and exaust are passive. All I have is an oscillating fan. Everything is fine...

I don't see that being possible unless your using more electricity then you get in product

passive intake, ok... But you need a exhaust all lights have heat.....

I'm saying for a small grow like OP wants to do. I use CFLs atm and they are only about 5mm away from my canopy. Virtually no heat.

To me, a small grow is about yield because if not then your spending more money then you get in return, with that being said more yield is hps... You can do a hps grow stealthy because I do. I grow in a tent in a closet. Dedicated the whole closet to the grow area so I can set nute bottles down etc and keep it all contained in the closet. My grow is silent with the door closed... Can't hear the inline fan anywhere. You can only hear the ac in the bedroom and outside, (the closet has a window in it with ac) and with the tv on or the bedroom ac on that's silent. And I use a 600w hps...

Build a carbon scrubber w/ a pot + circular fan + citrus magic; I grew 4 & 7 plants in two small boston apartments; nobody knew a thing. You'll need fans and access to open air. A carbon scrubber MIGHT cut it if there are no windows; just don't leave any doors open. GL grow smart, get a card

I have no building of anything experience or electrical, etc... So how do you vent out in a closet ???? The only way I would know how to do it would be to vent out through a dryer exhaust.

Ona Gel works pretty good for one or two plants.

Okay Im thinking of getting a 4x4 tent and growing (2) plants with a 400hps. Im probally gonna get a Phresh Carbon Filter and my complex is probably gonna have no central air and electric heat... Will that work ??

2 plants in a 4x4 under 400w HPS is good. 2 plants in a 4x4 under 600w HPS is better but may be too hot for your space if the air outside the tent (the air that you'd be pulling through your lights) is not conditioned. Good luck with your setup.

Thought I would put in my 2cents (note I only read op)..... I lon the top floor peoples on my sides, I don't run scrubbers or any kind of odor eliminator.. I have a 600 watt cool tube on constantly that I rotate 2 cabs under. Perpetual flower... I grow low odor strains and I have in laws ect come over all the time. Nobody knows we smoke or grow.. I keep the house sealed up just running central ac for temps..I do open windows for cool air in the winter and in both cases nobody smells a thing.. I'm more worried about them smelling my smoke.. a flwering plant shouldn't stink too bad unless its hot...I mean if its not a super stinky strain like a skunk or something with a low ppm odor threshold

Even if your downstairs neighbors cant smell it, you still run the risk of door to door sales men smelling it, Landlord, ect that come up to your front door. I can't notice the smell of my 3 plants but i work from home so im around it all day but my girlfriend says she can smell my plants from the front yard when i bring them to the bathroom to water them.
