Id like to grow 4 to 6 plants in a closet grow system but my girlfriend is concerned that the neighbors could potentially smell the plants. I live in a two bedroom apartment in a multi-story apartment building. I have neighbors on either side of my apartment, across the hall, and down below. Is there any chance that four to six plants would smell enough for the neighbors to smell it? The room has two windows but I'd be concerned that the neighbors below me might potentially smell it (they have a window directly below mine).

I have grown in a few apartments but I bought a charcoal filter and I had no problems. Is your apartment indoors or are the buildings outside. Just make sure you use air-fresheners throughout the apartment, get a charcoal filter and make sure you buy strains that dont smell as much like say northern lights and you will be fine. You will still be paranoid throught the process and rember its not how many plants you grow its how many lumens you have. You can grow 2 or 10 plants if ur using a 400W light you will likley get the same amount of bud both times.

Yeah i think you would have to go with a filter because there will be some type of smell.Just to be safe go with a filter..

...carbon scrubber solves all your problems. Pull your fresh air from indoors, exaust the heat/scrub'd air out your window. Watch how this cat builds his room in an apartment.

Thanks for the info. If I start a grow I would DEFINITELY use a charcoal filter in the grow room. Do you think this would sufficiently kick the smell? I guess my concern would be that the smell in the closet itself would be strong enough to somehow waft through the floors to the neighbors below. I was thinking 4 to 6 plants with a minimum 400w. Oh, and my next door neighbor is a correctional officer so if there was any chance that the smell could somehow waft into the hall I would have to press the pause button on this until I move somewhere else...

Get the filter you should be fine.If you are feeling worried get low odor strains.

Once you have the filter the smell will be so light they wont notice, the key is to buffer the air and not just let the smell build and build. you will be good I grow using a 400w and 6 seems to be too many to fit 4 will fit perfect under the light. rember its the lumens and not the number of plants.
