Growing in a refridgerator

hey, well I havent been growing lately, or posting, becuase im in college now, and its kind of hard to do. I live on campus, but I really miss growing, and how much fun it is. Well I have a 4ft minifridge in my room, and I was thinking about trying to do a grow in it. I have my own room on campus, and I have a lock for my door, so it wouldnt be hard to keep hidden.

Well the maybes.... Well im going to turn the fridge to the hottest it can get, and then throw a thermometer in there, to check the temp. I will then factor in the heat of the light, and see if the tempatures will allow me to grow. Other then that I dont know whats stopping me. I mean, to me it seems seriously bullet proof. I only want to grow like 4, and hope for 2 females. I really want to listen to your guys thoughts, and maybe someone has even grown out of one.

It just seems like a really good idea, If you guys think its good to, im goign to mylar the whole inside of it. Im thinking like a 400 hps, for vegging and flowering, I dont really want to buy a hps to, so O well, maybe ill try and get a blue spectrum hps bulb, not sure.

By the way, if anyone remebers me from when I used to post alot, how you guys been?

you will need airflo, you would be better with flos or maybe 250hps, what about smells?. cos you need to vent air, if not, your fridge will get mouldy. id just use a closet. a fridge is a lot of work for 2 plants.

yeah, but if I used a closet, then my room would heat up, more then the other rooms. Also, my room does not have a closet. Yeah after thinking about it, I would rather go with a 250 hps, and I am just going to a fan on both sides, intake and exhaust, so that the intake blows over the fan, then right out threw the exhaust. Maybe add a carbon filter to the exhaust for smell.

Well im not doing 2 big plants, im going to keep them small, LST, and supertopping. I might just look for a nice spot somewhere off campus, not sure yet.

will do, thanks for the link.

lol I really wanna buy a tanning bed, and grow in that. How badass would that be. just put a intake at the bottom, exhaust at the top. Surround Sound Lighting lol.

Someone should deff give this idea a go = )

lol sounds interesting but i think those super high UV level's would torch the plants, not sure tho, any1 have a deff yes or no to that idea? curiosity kills :-)

lol, im not sure, I think as long as you could keep the temps down, you would be ok. I wonder how many lumens a tanning bed puts off.

I read somewhere on this website, that cannabis plants produce crystals to protect themselves from UV rays. So if that was the case, the plant would be dripping with crystals to protect itself. YUMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

wouldn't ya just keep the fridge running? that would keep it cool, even has a built in thermostat. If you could vent the light seperate from the rest you could utilize co2 allowing warmer temps and less venting out of the smell.

I've been taking is easy myself lately and just built a small box housing a vented 250 hps. I'll try to get some pics up.

This was built just for fun. It's 15x30 inches. not sure on the height? not as much as I would like. and i'm going to be moving the equipment into a closet and do what I described above. this is 250 watts hps. with a squirl cage fan drawing the air from the cab thru the glass and out. I've also added 2 small oscilating fans, the temp's run in the high 80's. sometimes low 90's:cry:

Nice setup ya got there mexiblunt. Just gotta try and keep those temps a bit lower.

Ya growing in a refridgerator, it would be easy to utilize Co2, and keep temps down, and mylaring the inside would be easy. Just have to install intake, and exhaust. I relaly wish someone out there has tried this, and can tell me about what they had to do, and what problems they ran into.

I love the idea of growing in a fridge. I have not tried it. I currently have a stealth shelf setup using a 150w hps. I have issues with temps as well. Similar sort of thing as you are planning. I have 4 plants which I have lst'd. They are just about 7 weeks into flowering now. I am thinking of building a DIY cooltube using perspex to solve the temp problem. It sits around 90 so its far from ideal. Hope you don't mind if I throw a few pics of my setup up here. Might give you some ideas, I would love it if afew growers with experience with these setups checked out my journal. I am new to the micro game and lst but it is working out well soo far.

I also thought about groing in a filing cabinet. Cut the insides out, they even have locks and everything. Problem is they are steel.

@Bagz

how bad is the smell from that? and do those fans go through the drywall and out somewhere, or just in the back of the closet?

awesome lst btw.
