growing in a flat

I want to start some plants and clone them for an outdoor grow, maybe 2 moms, 50 clones. Could I set this up under LED's in a flatting situation, would it consume a noticible amount of power?

No one checks power use. The cops don't have access to that kind of information from any kind of company without a warrant. For example, under the guise (real or not) of fighting terrorism the US government is re-making current laws to make it easier to get internet information from providers. The way the law stood up until now, they could be trying to chase up a terrorist lead, ask a web provider for a users info and they just say "no"- and that's it... so back to power. The cops could ask but the company can legally say "no" or "I don't care". Plus no one, cops or not, is monitoring usage to even know wierd when it turns up

Even if they did search or report? How can they tell it's a grow? You may love Air con or heaters or plasma tv's- etc. 2 mums can be done for not much juice so as it is, your neighbor might be legally burning more power than you on something else anyway.

...But if you wanted to flower- that's another story. It won't be the power that draws attention, it will be the odor! Even mother plants vegging will smell a bit green but I think you could probably get away with that with some plug-in room freshener spray.

maybe it will be suspicious in electricity bill or something because of higher electricity spending...

Im living with my parents at the moment and looking at moving out, Im more concerned about the people I might be sharing a house with as most flats have shared power bills. would it make a noticable increase? maybe if I didn't use other appliances in the house. Its hard to find a cheap house to rent to myself but i guees I'll need too so I have somewhere do dry out all that kush.

how about buying some CFL's?i have them because electricity bills,i think if you will live with more people its normally to have higher bills so then wont be suspicious,bad thing growing in flat is smell,so if you don't have some ventilation it may smell bad and others will may smell it and report you

Power is charged by Kilowatt Hour- for example 25cents per KWH. The way you find out how many KWH you are using;

Divide the number of Watts by 1000,
multiply that result by the number of hours that the power is in use- for example x 18 for the 18 hours the vegging light is on for per day.

Eg: 400watt light / 1000 = 0.4 x 18hrs of light per day = 7.2 KWH per day

Then you can find out how much it costs per day by multiplying that 7.2 KWH by the cents per KWH your power company asks for. This is sometimes written on the bill or you could ask them.

Anyway more importantly, start looking at appliances. Look how many watts your TV uses and then look up what other types use. Look up what heaters, air cons and other electrical devices use and get yourself familiar with what a normal life could use. You'll find it varies ALOT when 1 tv can use twice the power of the next mans... and then another man down the road doesn't watch tv! Get what i'm saying?

So yeah if you are in some shared bill arrangement if you draw way more power than even a rich gadget loving dude would draw that might raise eye brows.. but as mentioned, there is always lowering the other energy use in your life to offset the grow usage.

well to give you an idea, when i grew in my last flat i was running 1x 600HPs, 1x400HPS, 1x250W HPs and a 6" fan n filter and a cloner and it used to cost me £3-3.50 a day more than what i would normally use

Well so is chemical fertilizer being flushed down the drain and promoting algae blooms, etc

Then there is the energy being burned by any globe, which is likely to be produced by a coal power plant

And what about the plastic on the LED? That was a toxic process to make...

I don't think indoor hydro is environmentally friendly no matter what you do
