Growing Herbs

I'm not growing any Maryjane this summer so I thought I would grow some Rosemary instead.

I have never grown herbs before so I'm not sure what to expect but little money invested so not much to lose

I'm thinking of other herbs such as basil, thyme, sage, parsley and chives but will see how this goes.

Wondering how herbs and pot get along growing together (indoor and/or outdoor grows)

I also bought this bag of "premium potting soil", no idea if it's any good or not

With proper care that rosemary will grow into a nice bush. I had one grow 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide in a few seasons. Find a nice place and plant it directly in the ground for best results.

thanks for the feedback...

It will be an indoor plant as I don't have a yard to plant it in, so I doubt it will ever get as large as yours

Did you consume the plant as an herb, or was it just a plant?

I have read that they need little water and it's quite easy to over-water them....I'll be very conservative with the watering

I'll admit that your grow is hidden well as I can't see the MJ plant any where in your garden :)

I also grow other herbs and plants to mask smell, and protect from people and pest. Plants that draw bees, mint, dill, cat mint, Russian Sage, and a variety of flowers deter people. A herb garden will also put out a ton of fragrant smells to mask that skunk scent. If you have a squirrel problem, feed them with sunflowers, and set some hot pepper plants around MJ to keep critters out. Lavender is another arid herb that grows well with Rosemary.

I'm sure glad my MJ grows faster than this damn Rosemary plant.....as you can see the growth has been rather minimal over the last 6 weeks

I recently cloned a "basil" from my friends plant.....I'm quite surprized how good it's doing, as I've never cloned anything before

Not sure it will do well in that stuff in your pot, It does fine in drier, sandier, soils.
It is a very hardy shrub that does better outdoors.

Yeah...I'm not thrilled with this soil, it's very fluffy....I wouldn't use it for MJ

I think I'll try again next year and will take your advise on the soil properties

Unfortunately, I can't grow outside (I live in a high-rise) so I'll try to make the best of what I have

Just keep a bag and a small spade in your car, you can always collect some outdoors.
I've driven to the town next door to go and collect river sand for my aquariums.
