Growing for potency

It would appear that extended darkness would be a form of stress. When I moved to organic I felt overall I got better smoke.
May look nicer. But tests have been made bunking the darkness. Stressors take more than 48hours.

So a plant can't be grown in a manner which lets it go full potential for potency?
Of course . Genetics ARE the potential. Keeping it healthy the entire grow is what lets it achieve its potential no different than any other living organism

Genetic ceilings are real. Can’t get past that barrier. If potent is not in the pool. Then potent is not in the pool. Genetics play a very important role. Everything else should be second nature after you’ve figured out your success.

No need, it's obviously voodoo bro-science promoted by the ill-informed

Even the theoretical electricity savings barely amount to a rounding error
Bro science? Not sure on that. Seems to be a few growers on this thread who agree that it may indeed work. I think a majority of those have grow journals as well or at least have posted lots of grow pics. So there is no need to attempt to insult. Exposure to light/UV degrades cannabinoids/THC on cured cannabis so....

I know, i was being humorous. ..When its done its done so the light would be off anyways.. I sometimes leave them in darkness for a few days and i'll say that the times i do it the smoke seems better. Same as a cooler room in the last few weeks seems to bring out more frost, colour and larger bud but as i originally stated- keep em as healthy as you can especially before switch and as others have said genetics are key- its well worth seed runs (even smaller ones) find something and running it for a couple of cycles.

"Darkness helps marijuana plants replenish THC and terpenes. During the day, THC partly degrades and terpenes partly evaporate. So the best time for harvest is early morning. And if you extend the night before the harvest to at least 2 days, you can (arguably) get more flavorful and potent buds."

"One of their discoveries has been that to keep the ripe plants in the dark before harvesting could increase their potency.SIMM’s growers separated a crop of mature plants, harvested half of them and kept the other half in absolute darkness for 72 hours before cutting and drying. Analysis of the resulting dried buds showed that some varieties had seen an increase of THC of up to 30%, while CBD and CBN remained the same."

Give it a go and see what YOU think.
