Growing and Chucking with MtRainDog

It's that time of year around here!

I've started a bunch of journals over the years and I never seem to keep them going. But this year, I've got a fresh head and perspective after being devastated by mites this summer and reduced to a plant count of zero. Had about 15 "elite" (god I had using that word) cuts going. Was a crazy amount of work, and life circumstances this summer stole my focus and during that the borg wiped me out.

Lesson learned? The biggest problem in my garden is my own laziness. I don't know where I got the mites from, I have my suspicions, but ultimately it's on me for not doing my due diligence. Clone-only's are wonderful, but I will be a lot more discerning about what enters my garden from now on. Fwiw, I promptly got Stardawg Corey back from gmo (I know, not everyone's a fan) but I do trust he runs a clean operation more than any of the other large vendors.

Moving forward... So with that fresh perspective, it's time to start popping beans again, and doing some small time personal chucking working the genetics I love.

The setup...

Tents/spaces:
  • 3 veg tents (2x2)
  • 1 clone tent
  • Flower room ~3x5
Lights:
  • 2x HLG 65
  • 2x HLG 100 (one 4000K, and one 100R)
  • 2x 150 watt DIY fixtures (each has 2x HLG QB132 boards powered by a MW HLG-150H-36A driver)
  • 1x HLG 350R
Medium:
  • Pro-Mix HP plus amendments (EWC, Perlite, Alfalfa & Kelp Meal, Espoma Tomato Tone, Garden Lime)
Method:
  • Small SOG style grow. I like to run numbers so I can put eyeballs on as many plants as I can in such a small space. Typically flowering in 1 gallon pots, sometimes 3 or 5 gallon if I want a decent harvest of something in particular.
  • Drip irrigation system (flower room)
The starting lineup...
  • Stardawg corey
  • 11x Sensi Star x Afghani by Strayfox
  • 1x Big Bad Wolf V1 by CSI
  • 5x Critcal Jack Herer by Delicious
The SS x Afghan in this tent is the outlier. Much fatter leaves than his/her siblings (hasn't sexed yet). I think it's an afghan leaner. Smells like play-dough. I won't use this one for F2's since I'm looking for strong menthol terps.

Corey' such an easy grow. Vigorous in veg, but manageable. Stays pretty squat and branchy. Doesn't stretch much in flower either and yields a ton.

Sub'd up! Looking forward to this....I feel your pain man, I too get lazy at times lol Keep up the amazing work cause it shows in how beautiful and healthy your plants are looking right now!!! The BBW smoke is some potent smoke and I love it. I actually have both BBW and BBW 2, I only grew BBW so far. ✌

Critical Jack Herer - these are about 12-14" tall, and have all shown lady bits. They're drying out their half gallon nursery pots every 3-4 days. These will be transplanted to 1 gallon containers, cuts taken, and moved to flower in the next week or two. Very pretty girls. I love to see skinny leaves like this.

A buddy brought back this Sour Moonshine from Maine. Definitely sour leaning in look and taste. Wish I had taken some bud pics before we smoked it all, but he let me keep the jar which looks cool af.

I'm overdue for an update in here.

Flowering has begun, finally! Running late this year due to remodeling the flower room. Irrigation was re-worked and routed through the wall to the pump/res in the veg/lung room, along with a new drainage waste management system. But the most time was spent building this medieval refrigerator door which is awesome because my previous door situation was totally sketch and I'm lucky I didn't end up herming the crap out some grows. Solid genetics I guess.

Did some light defoliation and topped a few to even out the canopy. Things are looking greener and happier now that I got everyone on a feed schedule that seems to work.
