I decided that I would start a grow log mainly to get help from yall. I am currently on day 7 of veg. I am useing 4-6 42 watt cfls (rated at 150 watt eq., 2600 lumens each) I just moved my grow space from a 1.5x2x4 cabinet to a 3x4x10 closet (rough estimate on closet) because I had a heat problem. I have also ordered a 100 watt and 250 watt hps and was going to get rid of the cfls and use both of thos. I have two plans on day 7 and two others that almost dyed on day 7 but they look as if they are on day 2. My medium is marigro. I am still trying to figure out security for the closet because the light escapes the door when closed and I cant have that. If anyone has any sugestions that would be a big help. I am going to install locks on the door today. I am also not sure exactly how much to water. I here conflicting info from ppl to water less (every two day) then from other ppl to water more. Also keep in mind that I am just growing for a personal gain, just enough to get me by.

well I really like my new grow space.. anyone that is working in a tight place I suggest moving to a larger space, it makes things alot more enjoyable, plus your plants will be happier. so far plant #2 is doing the best and plant #1 is kinda growing a little weird but Im sure it will perk up once I get hps on them. Still havent seen any improvement on the plants that almost dyed. They are still green but still look as if they are on day 2. I have been trying to water less becuase the leafs started to sag and I read on this site that this was from overwater. I am trying to get the humity higher because I was told that was good too. But im sure I will have no problem lowering it when It comes time to flower becuase it stays around 20-35%. I bought locks today but probably wont get to install them till tom. And I still need to somehow block out the light that is shineing thru the cracks of the door. I also add a larger fan so now I have two; one small fan inside blowing on the bulbs and a larger fan outside blowing air in over the plants. It seems like I can keep the lights about 4 inchs away and keep the temp in the upper 80s. I wonder if i should raise them to lower temps or if more/closer contact to light is better for growth.

This is day 8 and temps are perfect. Had a cool day and left the window cracked temps around 78 F and hit around 75 F last night; humity in high 30s. Plant two is looking great.. Im trying my best to not over water, But its two major leaves have faned out and I can see the start of the third pair of leaves coming in. Very excited. (sry this is my first grow). Plant 1 is still looking as if it is on day 5ish but im hoping it will perk up when I get my hps. I am also going to contruct a cool tube system (parts from walmart. so far all parts from walmart) because I dont want to spend much more money on this project than is needed. I LOVE MY NEW GROW SPACE. Again to anyone going in a small space do anything to get a larger space it really does make it much more fun, plus you have less to worry about. The two other plants are still not doing good. I might have to give up on them or at least one of them because Im starting to think they are dead, But they are still green so maybe there is hope. They are in the grow room but not under the light.

I also Beefed up the security and Im going to add a ventilation system. I am also Looking into a carbon scurber... I have had some ppl tell me that works to reduce odors but im not sure.. anyone know?

Well this is day 12 and I have received my hps ballasts in the mail yesterday. I am going to set them up today, But was going to buy the bulbs online (longer wait) because they are a fraction of the cause. I am also buying a better air purifier because I have a feeling that in the next couple of weeks I might need a better one. The one I have is ok.. but the one im about to order is an UV ELECTROSTATIC IONIC CARBON FILTER, kinda hits all the bases. I am going to set up the new lighting system and probabley have it up and running in the next couple of days. As far as the plants today, they look ok seems like they are strecthing a little to me.. what do yall think?!?!?!? Im pushing around 10,000 lumens.. but with the hps up and running ill be pushing a little under 40,000 lumens.. So I exspect there to be a change in grow patterns soon.

Ya Ive taken down the crapy makeshift reflector box. lol Im not sure If i want to fork out the doe for a nice one at least until I get some of my profit back from this grow. I have set up the Hps 250 watt bulb and the plants loooove that. I havent set up the 100 watt one yet because I want the 250w to be set up as nice I as I can get it so that ill know how to set up the 100w one the same way. Plant #2 has boomed. Plant #1 has some problems and im not sure what they are It might be hard to tell by the picture but it is a yellowish light green and the two larger leaves are curled under pretty far. Im not sure if it is underwatering, overwatering, or overheating (even tho the temps have been in the high 70s, so im thinking its not that) If anyone can help please do. I about to go the the store now and see what I can do about refelcting more of the light down. I really dont wanna spend any more money until I at least get my first yeild.

Ok so alot of ppl have said that I need to come up with a better ventilation system and I agree. It isnt even hot weather yet and im haveing heat problems so I would like to solve that now and not later. So im working on that. I have a better (not great by any means) reflector that I have made that would be great for turning into a cool tube system. That will be my next project. Also I am looking into moving the ballast out of the grow room (someone stated that it would lower temps around 5 degrees F) but I need to buy some more wire and im a little low on cash. I understand that this isnt the 70s and money needs to be put into a grow system in order to get anything back. So im going to slowly improve my grow area over time before summer gets here. Keep in mind this is a personal garden, so anywhere I can cut costs I will. So far Ive kept costs a lil over 100 bucks which is were I want it. (still need to buy odor control, ventilation and more security (light escaping the closet, less now that I have a better reflector)) I am also having a little trouble with plant #1. I have posted in the help forum and have gotten little help. The growth is stunted (about half the size of plant two and they both had the same conditions and started at the same time) also the leaves are curling down alot and it looks a yellowish green. I water them the same but have been wating from the bottom of the pots to pull the roots downward... maybe i started too early for plant #1 and the roots arent far enough down to reach the water. Im also not sure if im overwatering, underwatering, or if its the nutes. But I doubt it is the nutes because the miri gro was fertilized to last three months. Help!

Well I just bought 40 bucks in ventilation supplies and wire to get the ballast in a different room. I am sad to say that plant #1 has past away and plant #2 will remain #2 in respect for plant #1. Plant #2 has boomed!! It is triving and seems to almost like the higher end temps. Ive cought the temps around 75 and the plant would seem ok, then later id catch it around 89 and the plant would perk up. idk. With this new ventilation system it will have tubeing attached the the refelctor pulling around with a 80cpm fan to the top of the room (still not sure if I want to make the jump and cut a hole in the ceiling and pump the hot air into the attic. (plus I know that the attic gets reallllly hot in the summer and dont know if that would be a problem. Im also happy because im hoping that the new fan will be much quiter. The ppl I am living with heard the last fan and found the grow space. I just told them it was a spearment plants for school and they seemed to have bought it. So I will be beefing up the security as far as light escaping the space for my next project. enjoy.
