Growers networking?

I know it sounds like a crazy idea, with most everyone's don't trust anyone mind set. I mean I understand the hesitance to meet many new people with a small garden growing in your home. I'm not saying that you should just totaly drop your guard and just say to someone you met at a web site "here's my adress swing by whenever." I'm thinking more like taking baby steps, slowly build a level of trust and get to know someone first. Being a first time grower in a new town, 120 miles from all my old friends that would be able to help me out, sometimes an extra set of eyes would be helpful. I'm just wondering if anyone here has ever taken a chance to actualy meet and give/get helpful info from someone they met here. Please don't think that I'm trying to find a hook up here (not that dumb). Just thinking that it would be nice if people could meet up with other members here, trade tips, learn from each other, and hell evem trade strains. Call me dreamer but we are a unique click here. Sure there's web sites like this, videos, books, and many other resorces to turn to for help but, I can't be the only one here that learns better from hands on training. Just a crazy thought I'd throw out there

So i see people are checkin this out, but no one has posted a reply yet. Again i'm not reaching out for people to try to meet, in fact i already plan to swap clones with someone from here. This is just a question to get others to think about the benefits of reaching out to meet fellow growers. Somebody's gotta have an opion about this

Hi, Actually it's a good idea but maybe just a little ahead of it's time. As things lighten up a bit on the law enforcement side of things in general and maybe more states adopt at least Medical use then folks will start to network beyond this or other sites. For now though, speaking for myself and probably many others, I don't want to invite anyone but LONG TIME friends to view my closet or outdoor gardens. I trade ONLY with trusted people. If I want to talk with other enthusiasts or get gardening tips then I come here or other such sites.
If California finally does legalize it THEN you'll see an explosion of networking, at least in that state. I intend to teach a medical marijuana class in my local area 'WHEN' it's finally legalized. Meanwhile even dispensaries in my area who are trying to comply or at least work with local govt. and Law enforcement are being shut down. This is a transitional time where cities are having to create new rules to accomodate the dispensaries and some don't really want to or are not comfortable allowing Marijuana in the city limits. ...so be it. No business taxes for those cities.
So until Marijuana's value is lessened through legalization of it or easier access & lower prices then you'll still have rip off artists who will deceive you and be a part of your networking group, or they'll be a friend of someone in your networking group who talks too much and so either way you're in danger and will get ripped off. Human beings; being what we are at times ain't pretty... Regardless, it's a good idea to share gardening info, you might save a life someday and if nothing else help someone learn to grow a plant of great use. Happy Gardening! GrowIT!:weed:
