Last night I came up with a pretty decent design I belive. I will be picking up the supplies today after work. I have decided to build this one with just regular black poly, safety blanket mylar and pvc pipe.

I will re-build the tent part of it in a couple of weeks. I dont want to fork over the 100+ dollars for panda plastic till I know the design will work. I have tons of extra black plastic and safety mylar laying around.

The entrance/door is gonna be tricky. I was thinking of re-enforceing the plastic using some black gorilla tape and then sewing a heavy duty zipper on it. this is of course if I can even find a zipper.

Ill post some pics later once I get done from work and after the shopping trip. Stay tuned folks.

I started building the grow tent today after I got home from work.

I picked up

50' of cpvc piping - 5-10' lengths

25 tees

16 elbows

zip ties

1/4" plywood

black plastic

cardboard

mylar

I had to go 3/4" cpvc piping because my local hardware store has a shitty supply for fittings.

I wanted to 3way elbows for the corners on the bottom and top. but they didnt have any so I had to go with using tees to connect the body to the top and bottom.

I had to make my upright connections for the body like this using tees, elbows, and a 2" section of pipe

This is the beginning of the back of the body of the tent.

I put in several tees and 2' brace bars in to help make it sturdy and to also act as places to hang things from. like power strip fixtures.

This is the back with the horizontal brace bars put in place

Here is the back with a piece of scrap 1/4" plywood I had laying around. This doesnt way much, and it made the tent frame much sturdier. This will be nice to hang my power strips on and to mount a circulating fan onto it.

The top is put in place.

I wrapped and taped black poly over the bottom to make a clean surface out of. I am going to cut a piece of foam insulation with mylar on it and place it in the bottom when all is said and done.

keep us posted would luv to see it when ur done..

will do. I am going to try and wrap the sides tonight. I am going to add some more piping to make braces for fans and of course the light. I am going to use all pvc for the mounts. At the end I will prolly add some spray foam here and there just in case it needs a little light blockage and some extra strength.

Here is a pic of the tent all wrapped up on the bottom and all three sides. I havent done the top yet or the door.

Here is a pic of one of the sides. completely light proof.

Wired up four power bars in a series on the piece of plywood. One more power bar up top attached to one of the side braces

Installed a cool-air intake on the bottom.

So today I shortened the height just a little and added 5 cross bars on the top. I did this so I can support my light and exhaust vent off of them. This should curb and serious bending in the pvc. If i get to much bend I will grab some rebar and cut a section out for each cross bar and place inside the piping.

Im feeling a bit irie right now so im gonna bail on posting updated pics. will do that tomorrow. have the tent work with a clone in it right now. Temp is at about 83 degrees. its hot as shit outside and even hotter in my house right now. temps will be dropping in the next few days so we will see what happens with that.

thanks for looking. if anyone wants a more detailed diy let me know and Ill add specs and shit.

Ill post some more pics a little later. Its coming along quite nicely.

The black poly plastic is not completly light proof like I thought it was. Im gonna apply some mylar to the inside of the tent today. that might help stop the light leakage. if not Ill just have to get a roll of panda plastic.

it was rather easy to cover with plastic, kinda like I was wrapping a big xmas present.haha

Here are some updated pics of the tent.

I made a few changes. I wasnt happy with how tall I made it, so i chopped off about a foot, maybe a bit more. I dont really need it to be that tall. The shorter it is the better my vent fans will work at changing the air over.

I also added five support bars across the top. This will be used to hang the light system from when its time for it. Right now I dont need it so i dont have it hung.

This is the top of the tent with the five support bars and the 4" exhaust fan

Some light leakage cominig out of the bottom of the door. I have to mcgiver some kind of way to make the door more accesible and of course light proof. I will be looking into a way to zipper it shut. Im thinking of replacing the poly plastic door with some black cloth that i can add a heavy duty zipper too.

This pic is the floor and it shows the tent in action. I have 8 clones and some other plants growing as well. Trying to root some patchouli clones for some friends.

this one shows the fan to cool the lights, the cool air intake, and my pathetic clones that i dont think will root, not sure to be honest. they were taken from an outdoor plant.

hey just an idea but maybe you could use velcro straps for the door.. i've seen them before and they got a sticky back so they just stick straight on..

Ive tried velcro in the past, and have not had good luck with it. I find that it never sticks well and ends tearing the plastic or it just comes right off the plastic.
