So like I said this is my first time growing in tent. How long do you veg before going into flower?

It's mostly dictated by the size of your grow area/tent. Plan on the vertical height of your plants doubling or even tripling after you flip them to 12/12 lighting. You will run out of vertical height very quickly.
Make sure you top your plants during veg and try some low stress training to keep the height down. Try to veg for at least 3-4 weeks.

And only grow indica dominant strains, that grow quite short compared to sativas.

To be safe, when it's about 1/3 the height you have available. For you, I would say when they're around 10" to 12" tall. Learn how to SCROG to make the most out of your grow.
