Which do you think works better...
Tent or Closet?

Ill be using LED's so venting wouldnt be a huge problem, and dont worry about size dimensions on either im just curious which one you guys would use.

What kind of LEDs will you be using? What kind of cabinet will you be using?

Venting is a huge issue with cabinets, I had the super closet and I added the California light works 400w solar storm 400 and my temps couldn't be controlled in a cabinet.....

Don't be fooled, now I switched from cabinets to tents mainly because I have more space, and I have more options such as ebb and flow instead of dwc

Only reason one will want to do cabinets is because its stealth but it does cost you in yield so think about what you want.... My suggestion is go with a tent

a tent assumes space around the outside for vents, gadgets, etc.
a cabinet is tight, some heavy duty carpentry attic work for vents and wires etc.

space = space(lights), bud = bud(strain). more space = more bud.

heat is your biggest enemy dont under estimate its evil power, be proactive and destroy it before it conquers. even with led.. plus u want max air flow.

i built a 8x4x7 cabinet sectioned in two from lumber so best of both worlds =D. i agree with dude above But i also had the space. a tent is way more efficient IF you have the space. BUT a little bity bud is better then no bud right??

I have a tent inside a closet. The tent is always open. I have a black curtain hanging to help block light. I close the closet door when I need to. I bought the tent hoping that the doors would be closed most of the time, but I can't keep the heat down. It is convenient for hanging my lights and fans.

I first started out growing in a walk-in closet and I miss that closet but that was in another state. My old closet was sweet. 7 ft ceiling, and 3.5 ft by 7 ft width. It was in a double wide trailer. I took the door off the closet and cut almost 12" off the top of the door, then hung the door back up and cut a 2x12 board to close the gap. I cut 2 holes in the 2x12 spacing them about 12" apart. The holes were done with a jig saw and ugly but worked. One hole was for intake and one was for outtake. I used a small 265 CFM squirrel cage for intake and an older model 5" canfan connected to a can 9000 filter for outtake. I just used one side of the closet with mylar taped to the walls and a 400 hps light. I put wads of silver foil tape around the ugly cut intake and outtake holes to seal up light leaks and used strips of cardboard taped up around the outside edges of the door to block light leaks coming thru cracks. It looked ghetto but it worked well.

I use a tent now but the next place I move, I'm going super stealth because I'm going to gut out a tall clothes dresser because I think I'm going to end up in an apartment and that's one of the worst places to grow because of inspections , maintenance men, and management. I'd still prefer a closet over my tent. This is something like I want next >

This is an opinion only. The more "enclosed" a plant feels, the worse. But you have many considerations. In the long run a tent will teach.

If you own your place, I'd say build it. You can customize it any way you want adding places for mounts and such.

if you rent, get a tent. My landlord wanted to re-finance, so he had to get the house appraised. I had my tent down in 15 minutes (it still took a few hours to get everything else out). Moved it all elsewhere for a day, then set it all back up the next day.

Im going to grow so much weed when I can finally start building rooms and modifying the wiring in my place.

If you have a closet of any decent space (4x2 or 4x3 something similar), USE IT!!! If you "own" it, always use it. Fyi-White paint better than the reflective stuff.

Tents can be had cheap. You'll spend more fitting out a space as you will on a tent if you don't have materials on hand. Your cabinets were built with a purpose in mind and it was not growing plants. You can throw a tent up in about 15 mins with no tools and little mess.

Hey VaSmile, you're absolutely correct, I actually cut my response short..., I was basing my posting from the assumption someone already had a closet in their bedroom or something they could use. Not necessarily having to build anything. Yeah, screw building anything, get a tent lol.

Even if you have a set space like a closet your gonna spend $20on paint or reflective film, $10 on gap fill. Gonna have to cut out vent holes, install ways to hang lights and fans. Spend a bit of time working in a cramp space. If you got a room to dedicate to a grow I don't see the use in a tent bigger then say 4×4 or 5×5 but anything smaller then that just spend the $60ish and know your environment is fully controllable

I understand what you're saying, and I've used tents I love em. I personally prefer a closet. I find the benefit of the closet is being able to control the environment of the inside, the stability of the environment on the inside, from the outside. No dehumidifiers, humidifiers inside, just wall to wall weeeeeed lol

I think we can agree, everyone has a preference, and everyone has different parameters theyre working with.....and it's a plant that grows in every single climate zone on this earth, we're not splitting the atom here. Throw a seed in my yard, step on it, pour my water on it, good chance the damn thing will grow .
