Grow Tent Too Hot

Hi,

I have a 2m x 1m x1m grow tent which is running a 400w light but im having real problems keeping the temp down. Im using a Tornado AF100 (100mm) fan for extraction and an identical fan for my inlet. I'm currently using a Powerplant Super Wing reflector as i thought this would be the best for equal light distribution but am now wondering now if this could be the problem as its large size could be trapping the heat underneath the reflector. Also are my fans big enough to cope? If someone could offer any advice this would be very much appreciated.

ive heard you want more air being pulled out than going in...prob not gonna help the heat situation but i know my tent has vents maybe try opening the vents or switching your cycle to night time when its cooler... idk meters either soo how many feet in a meter? lol

to have more air out then whats pulling in creates a negative pressure and it sucks the tent in a little bit. the only thing that does is stress the fan that cant keep up with the other one. what i would do is increase the fan thats blowing air in and leave the one pulling air out the same. the other thing you can do that will definately solve your problem is to get cfls instead of that big bulb

I would get a portable a/'c for the tent they work wonders or if the room your tent is in has a window put at least a 8,000 btu air condioner in the window and cool the room more. Thats what i do my temps peak at 80. Low temps around 70.

You don't need an active intake fan pulling air in. That will happen naturally as your exhaust fans run. Use passive intake grills down low and use both fans as exhausts, preferably opposite sides of tent at top. If I'm not mistaken, a 100mm fan is a 4" fan. Add an oscillating fan inside the tent to move air as well. Negative pressure is better anyways, it is easier to control odors.

Just to make sure you do have your light control box out of the tent right I know some new growers will make this mistake it adds alot of heat.

I would suggest that you use a bigger exhaust fan or if you have an extra budget, you can try using ice flow. It is similar to an exhaust fan but it can water-cool air in the grow room without adding more fans.

I was having heat issues in my tent upstairs in my loft. After a number of different experiments, I ended up sealing the tent completely and running a single 6" duct directly from the only HVAC vent in the loft into the tent. a floor fan blows upward directly under the sealed 600W HPS. My 6" exhaust fan pulls from my carbon can thru my lamp and out the tent. I went from 90+ temps with lights on to mid-to-high 70s at canopy height with the 600W HPS lamp ~12" from my girls. The fan pulls more than the vent pumps, so I still maintain negative pressure.
