Grow Tent Question

aint got a scooby

Hi all im looking at getting a grow tent for my plants which will be 'autos'. I know im going to get some stick for choosing autos but they suit me best as they are so quick. Anyway can anyone recommend a size of tent to suit 10 auto plants, i would say a 600w sodium should do for them, the option of a cooltube would be nice as well.

thanks and a + rep for any help

My area is a 4x4 and I have (6)- 10 quart pots (2 1/2 gallon) under a 600w. These accommodate nicely and seem to give the plants their full growth potential, but may be a bit excessive in size for an auto. If you went with a smaller 6-7 quart pot, you could probably do 10 plants in the same area without issue, but for sure in a 5x5.
One other thing to take into consideration in this endeavor would be your choice of reflector. I use a Radiant 6 and it projects light over the area well enough to cover the plants (since they are in 2 rows of 3), but would not be ideal if there were longer rows, more rows, or if I had a smaller hood. I would suggest maybe doing 8 plants rather than 10, in 2 rows of 4 to get better light coverage, but that is arbitrary depending on the reflector you choose.

I hope this helps you a little bit and if I missed anything or can add anything just let me know; I'll be glad to offer what I can. Take it easy and best of luck.

I agree with lonely smoker, you could get away with a 5x5 just fine. i personally like the adjust a wing hoods. they would give you great coverage in there. I grew six on a hydro table in a 4x4 tent, i purchased mine for about $120 on ebay. I would also recommend a 6" fan. Mine ran 425 cfm and i could control the temp just by the exhaust fan. BEWARE I heard that some of the cheaper tents on the net made in china can become toxic to plants once the reflective white sheen on the inside begins to deteriorate. Therefore, if you plan on growing in this tent for a while you may want to consider putting up the extra cash now for a more expensive tent rather than going cheap and having to buy another one in a couple years.
