The Darkroom offers minimal proofing against the elements. Waterproof-- sure but that is about all. It reflects light back in but doesn't do anything to absorb IR heat.

I'm told that Hydrohut has a several new models coming out. One of them is said to have a very thick skin specifically to hold the elements better than the competition-- keep IR heat hidden which necessarily means that it will keep your A/C in much better. Think of it like a cooler, it will hold the temps better.

No word yet as to when it will be released.

No I don't work for HH, but as we draw nearer the San Fran Hydro show in July, everyone is getting ready to release their new stuff. I make calls, I ask questions and I get tid bits.

This is also why Sunlight just released its new Habitat, for the show.

Sunhut got out the shot gun and shot from the hip and got lucky. They used the Darkroom material on the inside of their thick canvas. So, (except for the second floor) they have a perfectly good tent now and because of the thick canvas, it is actually more absorbant (IR light and radiated heat) than the Darkroom.

[It reflects 97% of light just like the Darkroom -- this is light, not radiant heat as Everest and BG Hydro are claiming on their websites. They show a clear misunderstanding of radiant heat. As the Darkroom heats up over time, the heat moves through the material and the material gets hot. They cannot reflect 97% of radiant heat over time, they must too absorb that heat and they don't have the necessary layers to do so. ]

As Sunhut left the second floor in the old white plastic, this shows a CLEAR misunderstanding of the problem (that they never had ...my ass) but if you just don't use that second floor, you will be fine.

The ceiling has been redone too, so all in all, they got lucky and are back on the market with a very usable product.

Look for prices to start falling now due to competition. Also, look to other sites for the Darkroom than just BGH. BGH & Everest (the wholesaler) are owned by the same people. Other stores will be able to discount the tents and BGH won't do that so those other stores don't get angry with them.

all grow tentes are pretty much the same crap the main thing they should worry about is insulation whats the point of ducting an ac to or putting it in the tent if the dam thing is not insulated to hold the temps the ac is putting out .....if you put a tent inside youre house or a shed ...house would be better cause central ac but still needs to be ducted because the lights are inside the tent if there not insulated the temps would not stay the same

This guy is full of useless unproven facts..... i like how he knows so much about all tents on the market yet can't make a informed decision for himself.....Still has to come here and ask, be independent man.... use your discount and get a HydroHut already....

I have been using the newer SunHut for about a week now and it has been killing my clone since I put them in there. I've been reading many different forums about the off-gassing problem with many different makes and models of huts trying to identify what is wrong with these things. I'm starting to think that the problem stems in the white poly plastic lining material.

The newer version of the SunHut has been redone with reflective mylar, but still has a water barrier made of the same white plastic material. This barrier acts as a second floor that you may choose to put in the hut if you wish. I did so thinking that they fixed the problem, and would make it easier to clean up between grow cycles. A day or two after putting my clones in, I became suspicious when the new growth was yellowed instead of dark-green. It has been a week now, and I'm certain there is a problem.

I have removed the white plastic 2nd floor and am hoping for them to bounce back. Not sure if they will, but I think this will be a clear indication that the problem is in the white plastic material. In which case, what the hell were they thinking making any part of these huts with the same defective material in the first generation models?

I'll try to remember to post again with my results.

Removing that second white floor should do the trick. The problem is in the white plastic and the people at Sunhut have not a clue about the problem. They got very lucky -- went to Europe, saw the Dark Room, copied its interior surface and ceiling poles and adapted those features into their Sunhut. The got their Sunhut back out onto the market very quickly but as you've noticed, they don't know a thing about the problem. They are copy professionals. Tent is made by Seachance company on Alibaba.

Let us know if removing the second floor works.

It's been 3 days now and my plants are looking much healthier. They almost immediately started turning dark-green from the center of the leaf and are now filling in on the rest of the leaves. My plants are starting to thrive again!

Lucky for SunHut they made the floor removable. The rest of their product works really well.

just kit out the shed. why would you put a grow tent in when you could have a grow shed??? Cheaper and easier, more room, more lights etc etc...
