Hey guys, Sorry to divert your converstion, but I figured this was the best place to post...

My husband and I are looking for a nice grow tent it needs to fit into a 87"x39"x81"(high) space. I'm having trouble sorting through all the infromation, so any recomendations or ideas would be apperciated. We're going to be using CFL lights and will proably only be growing one mother and one clone at a time.

I did see a post with a "new" tent that had mylar inside it, and clear windows and such, I could fit 2 of the small ones in the space (or for each plant) but I didn't find many reviews about it. We're growing in a place that can't have ducting all over the place, so we are also a bit concered about how to vent it (incase of gasses, or weed stank)
Here's a link to a page of the name brand tents and the different sizes:

Would just moving it from the tent/cabniet to the space outside the cabniet work and have like a fan/portable A.C in the space to cool/circulate the air? (also, linked site mentions that if we don't seal the tent fully that it doesn't need air flow, but if it is in a closet would this not be the case?)

It's pretty much going to be in a storage closet on our back porch, and we live on the 3rd story of a condo so we can't really do anything much to the walls or anything.

Also, that cabniet looks pretty neat, did it come that way, or did you just buy a cabniet and line it with car windsheild reflectors? I see you have a small computer fan hooked up to it, but what is the box on the top? Did you drill ports for those, or did it come with them?

LT Dan- Thank you for the link! It's nice to get a side by side compairson price wise

Not my cabinet...
There Must be air circulation the lights produce heat AND the plants NEED fresh air! you could use a swamp cooler to bring temps down... but you will still need air circulation...

2'x2' tent with an 8 bulb T5. I get awesome results with low heat and current draw. I did a purple power and white widow this time. The purple grew great but did not produce strong THC buds (finshed very early though!). This is the white widow and is probably the largest harvest, heaviest and densest buds I've ever gotten. The buds on the floor are just SOME from this plant.

I use a portable SCROG technique where I attach the screen directly to the planter so I can remove the plants from the chamber when I want. I think in a sall tent, SCROG and flat T5s work really well!

I tried a 400W HPS and had major heat issues as well as bleaching the plants white (contrary to popular believe, I think you can have too much light!).

Hey tent guys. Quick question before i place my order and become a member of your club. Is the secret jardin really worth the money...or should i go with a cheaper 5X5 tent and spend the extra money elsewhere (nicer ph/ec meter, nicer 1000W light setup)?

i got the "original grow tent" from htg supply.
used it for 2 runs and still works great. no rip[s tears or light leaks.
it was hella cheaper than the jardin. and works awesome. exactly the way its suposed to.
a tent is a tent i think. its just a room that provides a lightproof reflective room anywhere you need it.
id say go with the cheaper tent and buy some good ventilation

Alright thanks I'll look into that. I was originally just going to get a whole kit fro HTG supply for my first grow and then after that upgrade all the peices over time....but for what i want with their 1000W kit it comes out to like 1070 shipped.

Got a quick question for the tent experts...I'm thinking about getting a tent that is four feet high. Is that a stupid investment...I can't properly keep a six foot one. If I'm doing a CFL grow in a 4-foot tent, that essentially means the plants can get up to 3.5 feet, right?

With proper training (Topping,LST, Ect) Everything will be fine maby look into scroging not sure on exact height though

I'm starting a new grow of Easy Ryder in a DR40 with a 150w HPS light.

I was wondering how am I going to fit a carbon filter in this tent? Has anyone had any experience of growing in a DR40 and could give me a few pointers?

Thanks

So this is my new setup. DR120, 1000W xtrasun switchable ballast, Xtrasun air cooled 6" hood, 1000W MH for now...picked up a hortilux HPS for when i switch to flowering. Also have a nice 400CFM inline fan.

nice bro looks good. Maybe think about a scrog? be a great way get a nice yield with that light and grow area. One question though, are you leaving that fan open ended and pushing air through the light and out of the tent?

ya looks good but i would have a carbon filter where ur exhaust fan is and make that suck air out on other side of reflecter....just my $.02

There will be a carbon filter attatched to the other end of the fan. I'm going to look at a few this afternoon. And you dont want the carbon filter to be on one side of the light and the fan on the other side of the light because any small leaks between the glass and the reflector will pull smelly air through and defeat the purpouse of the carbon filter. Its crazy how much air that fan pulls. Even with the passive intake open on the DR120 and a few of the ducting outlets open...it still pulls in the sides of the tent. Great thing is the tent also acts like a nice filter for the air in my room.

Edit: And as far as growing method i'll be doing CCOB so i can keep a nice even canopy and actually be able to do one plant per sq ft. Gonna keep the plants trained to stay within that 1 sq ft area.

Heres my last 600w ebb and flow in my 4x4 tent. The strains are Kings Kush and Og Bubba. I harvested about 13oz's. Thanks Rollitup! IMG_0014.jpgIMG_0004.jpgIMG_0009.jpgIMG_0020.jpgIMG_0044.jpgIMG_0053.jpg
