Grow tent and lights choice for 1 plant

I was thinking about Mammoth Tent Lite 60x60x140CM and for lights:
Plasmalight V2.0 CFL 4U-40w - E27 - 6400K for vegetative stage and
Plasmalight V2.0 CFL 4U-40w - E27 - 2700K for when it starts flowering

I'm looking to start off with just a plant for my first grow and that'll probably be Northern Light. First time grower here, so if you guys think the lights and the tent are okay please let me know.

You'll veg fine with those. It's what i am using for my babies(40watt cfl).

What size pot are you planning on using?

I've found that there are many different ways to achieve a similar goal.

With that size tent, you could go with a 250 watt cfl, but if you are growing with a tight budget, you could get some 23w or 40 watt from Lowes.

You could grow seed to harvest with a 23w bulb and babies in solo cups if you wanted to, but your results would reflect the lack of light. Either you would have a small yield of tight bud or "airy' bud.

Your tent is roughly 4 feet high. and 2ft by 2ft. What size pots you should use will greatly depend on what lights you are going to use.

Cause a 4 foot high tent, minus say 8-12 inches for your light(if you are using a reflector, possibly less if you are not) Minus another few inches or more, if you are using a high wattage CFL( the 125-250 watt cfls get pretty hot. The 23/40 watt ones you can (almost) let the plant touch the light.) Minus whatever vertical space your pot with soil takes up, say around 6 inches for a 1 gallon pot(milkjug**WITH HOLES IN THE BOTTOM)

So out of 4 feet, you are left with around 2-3feet of usable space for your plant.

(Edit: as an afterthought, if this is just an experimental 1st grow, I would reccomend using 23 or 40 watt cfls. It will minimize heat and also be cheap, although you will have to 'rig' up a fixture for your bulbs OR if you can ventilate that tent of yours, you could get an All in One 150 watt HPS by SunSystems for around 60$ but you may would have to grow our NL in a solo cup and flower soon after she germinates)

Are you able to tell us a round-a-bout budget for your lights?

Thanks tharoomman for the effort you put in trying to help me. I'm looking at a budget of roughly 200 dollars. I thought about getting a 3 gallons Smart Pot, what do you think. Can I jump straight to the final pot to avoid transplants? Thing is, what you recommend I might not find where I live and I am not looking to buy stuff off Amazon/Ebay etc. Shipping takes a while and the transport aswell. Yeah, I think I'll start with 23/40W CFL bulbs. Another question I have is, can I mix 6400k with 2700K in FLOWER or should I remove the 6400K bulbs once it starts flowering?
 
Do you already have all the equipment in your 1st post or do you still have to buy that stuff out of your 200 budget?

You could do that with your plant and pot, but you have to be VERY careful not to over water. For a while you will have very little root growth but a large amount of soil so it will be easy for you to over water and hurt/kill your seedlings. You can do it, you just have to be carful watering. When in doubt, wait an extra day. It would take quite a few days to kill a plant from not watering, but not so many to kill a plant from over watering.

As far as the lights, I've flowered with MH before, and I've vegged with the Flower spectrum of CFLs. Everything still turned out good. But you are supposed to use the correct spectrum for each stage of growth. So, you might as well do it that way.

If you have a lowes or home depot you might not be limited to 23/40 watt bulbs. My store has some 60 or 80 watt(i forget which ones) CFLs with a standard(non mogul) socket. But sometimes the price per lumen is cheap on the smaller CFLS vs the larger ones.

You should take your time and really think out how you want to arrange your lights in your tent, because space is an issue for you. Try and arrange your lights in the most space effecent ways. You should check out the CFL sub forums. If you are only growing 1 NL then you might be able to literally surround your plant with CFLs, in which cause I imagine you will be happy with your results.

When you start your grow, make a thread on it and PM me and I'll follow it. I'm curious to see how it looks.
 
I haven't bought anything yet. I'll have just a bulb above the girl while it's tiny and later on I'll add one on each side in the middle I think ?! I'm planning to purchase everything I need off one single site that's specialized in indoor growing (indoorgardens) in just one order so I am trying to make a wishlist because in about a month I'll get the stuff. So I'm basically just planning ahead to know what to order when it's time and be ready. And yeah pretty much I'll be very in doubt about watering, hopefully I won't fuck shit up.
 
Best piece of advice I can give you. Nobody wants to spend much.....but even one girl needs 200-300 watts to flower. So when it comes down to your precious cash, don't skimp on light or odor control.
 
Guys if I get soil with a ph in the range of 6,0-6,5 and I'll use distilled water with a ph of 6,25 to water my plants will I still have to worry about controlling the PH and checking it from seed to harvest? I'm a little confused about this PH thing. Please make me understand

if u are using distilled water u will need to get some cal-mag... what i do is use tap water... leave it out for 24hrs in bottle... open lid...(5 litres) u will need to ph the water anyway...i ALWAYS ph mine to between 5.8 - 6.0

I would use tap water aswell, but I have no idea about its chemical composition and I know a place in my city with distilled water with a ph of 6,25 which is just perfect.

u will still need to ph the water dude.... after adding cal-mag and nutes....they will increase the ph... i use tap water and use cal-mag on every 2nd watering....
