Grow tent advice 2400w 6.5x6.5 tent

I need a little help. This is my set up
2 Tents- both 6.5x6.5x.6.5 in my garage. My garage is over 1000 sq ft with 12ft ceiling on one side and 18ft vault on the side with the tents

Tent #1
2400w (1000w air cooled hood, 3 400w high hps lights)
6" 500 cfm exhaust fan pulling air through my hood, out of my tent and exhausting it out the garage window
Active intake 10" 900 cfm fan pulling air through a custom made box with a 20"x20" furance filter, spilt into (2) 6" ducts feeding both tents.
16" oscillating fan on high

Tent #2
1200w (3 400w high MH lights)
6" 500 cfm exhaust fan pulling out of my tent and exhausting it out the garage window
16" oscillating fan on high

All winter long my temps were fine. I run my lights at night but now temps in my state have been getting into the high 70s during the day and in the 60s at night. Tent number #1 is getting over 100 degrees.

I was thinking about running some 5000 btu ac window units I bought at walmart. I pretty good carpenter but I can't think of a good way to rig them up into my tents. I was thinking about building a complete indoor grow room out of wood. Building 3 rooms and starting over from scratch. I think I would have better luck building something custom to meet my needs with insulated walls in an insulated garage... rather than continue using my grow tents. If anyone has any good ideas for using my existing tents or a new custom room set up.... I'm all ears. Post some pics.

I've only been growing for six months, so I'm kinda new at this. But my plants are killer. Wattage = Weight. :hump:

I forgot to mention the 400w lights are high bays with no reflector. The ballast is apart of the light... so they get hot

By all means build a custom room, that much wattage in tents is very hard to control. I'm sure your not in the full heat and humdity of mid to late summer. Build now cover all your bases and be happy later when you come back on here and listen to all the whining about rooms that are too hot.

If your pulling air from outside your tent through the cool tubes then back out you will drop your temps,
Not just a bit but alot!

What about when the outside air is already 75 to 80 degrees? Tents are for people who can't build a room from scratch!

As long as your pulling from outside and exiting back outside the air movment will carry the heat caused by the bulbs away from
The grow area! Making cooling the tent a much easyer task, i run x6 600 in a 10x10 and thing are never over 78 to 80f but
Running it any other way would be No buano!

When i say outside i mean not outside the tent i mean outside the room the tent is in.
Its a bit of ducting but its the best option! Plus have a room inside a room makes for
Better odor control! And it will be cheaper to cool down with ac unit or heat exchangers.
Also opens up options of running co2

I think were on the same page I'm saying build a custom sealed room inside the garage. Use an ac window shaker in the wall of the custom room. Set it up with motorized dampers on the intake and output duct work and change the air in the room every couple of hours. Use good filters on the intake to keep out mold spores, pollen and mites.
the ac will keep the temp and humidity in check. Use a dehumidifier during the lights off period. Keep the intake and out put vents closed when your CO2 is on. Perfect!

Sounds like thats my best option.... new custom room. I really appreciate the feedback guys. I guess I got some work to do. I'll post some pics when I get some free time

Don't forget to build it with the ceiling as high as possible, for several reasons, height of plants and heat just to name a few. +rep and happy growing

With a little fab work you make the high bay into a horizonal. All mine started out high bay. I just take it apart and remount the lamp base. This way I can keep the ballast outside the room in the summer, but in the winter I move them back in the room. Sounds like your a good mechanic and could handle that no problem. High bay fixtures go for $25.00 or less on craig's list in my area. Most folks don't want them for growing.
