Grow sponsors?

Are any of you guys sponsored??

I had an IG reel that was shared by mzjill of my jilly Bean f2....long story short a company (I won't say names) reached out offering to give me lights and a tent for only the cost of shipping, wanting to sponsor me.

I had never even heard of being sponsored as a grower lol. But it got me wondering if literally like everyone on here is sponsored

These "sponsorships" are often just a very very cheap way for these companies to get advertising. What you get vs what you give makes it a very one sided relationship. Would you be willing to get a McDonald's tattoo on your forehead for a couple big Macs, a happy meal and a mcflurry?

Not worth it to me but maybe if you were dying of hunger?

This is marketing, people don't utilize old school marketing anymore, with the growth of social media, now people and companies focus more on influencers, and affiliates they want real people posting about their products and that person gets a kick back, now sometimes is a small comission based on purchases off your affliate links, or itsbased off your following base, etc sometimes you just get free product

sponsorship is just another marketing term,

Ideally you and the company will want to come to an agreement on what you feel is fair to you and them, some companies will take advantage and some people will try to take advantage of small businesses by asking for free products in exchange for review ets,

Its your choice if you want too,you will have to read their agreements, you are essentially entering into a contractual agreement most times with a company,

Lets say Sara,is now an affiliate for oldnavy she is required to post x amount of times per week with her affiliate link and linking all of old navys products, she is required by law to post a paid partnership label on instagram including adding to her post this is an Ad that is required by law,

alot of companies are able to get around some laws due to their location, but that doesn't mean you arent breaking the law by not posting its an ad etc,

I work as a small business owner, i don't do affiliates or influencers, its not my marketing jam but as you all know i also do the entire advertising on here as well.

Basically you will want to review and read ALL your terms and conditions sometimes companies make it very simple and other times not so much

True marketing sponsorship and affliations are not cheap. product giveaway is not cheap, sending someone money for affliateship is not cheap, time shipping etc.
Its not at all cheap but it may appear that way

and no ones getting tattoos for a happy meal lol

I had Mars lights offer to "sponsor" me but I graciously declined.
My boy just got 4 free lights from them not a bad sponsorship to say grown with Mars. I chose spider farmer they don't pay as much as Mars. Kinda wish I'd went with Mars they reached out first, then spider farmer reached out on reddit instead of insta which I thought was weird. Maybe because I mod a larger subreddit.

We are taking about people getting a cheap ass mars light and tent and having to advertise a bunch for very cheap products produced by slave labor... Those aren't "true marketing sponsorships" like you're describing. It's companies taking advantage of people either wanting free stuff or with egos who feel important being fake "influencer".

You seem intelligent enough to understand the difference... Hell I might even say you often feel like you're the smartest person on the forum.

And it's called hyperbole lol

Thanks for that breakdown.

Maybe if I accepted, they'd explain those rules, but as it was, I was never even asked to say "grown with..." or to advertise anything, which was the weird part for me
