how many plants are you trying to run to get this 1/4 lb a month avg ?
there is a different answer to your question
-if your talking a few big plants a year you can get away with 4x4x8 or smaller depending how you train and how long you veg
if you want mothers you perpetually take clones every week and put them into flower and have a perpetual harvest.that requires more time and space
-if you need to be stealthy or conservative with the room there are other methods too,
what's your plan ?

If you've got money, you can buy a shit ton of auto seeds and pop 1 every 20-25 days.
Depending on how good of a grower you are, you can pull an ounce or sometimes 2 every month.
That's about as realistic as can be for perpetual in just a cabinet.

simple lst. 3-4 oz isnt hard if you get a heavy strain. 250w

You would need to have a veg room and a flowering room to get that much a month......you would need to start a new batch of plants every 4 weeks to get a monthly harvest like that .....so you would need quite a bit of space, something like a big closet

Thats 4 plants vegged and trained out a few months in a 8x8
it definitely meets your 1 oz a month avg.it just does it in a lump sum
so it all depend how you want to grow
you can get 2-3 of these a year depending on how quick your strain is and how good you are at not causing stress

I get well over 200 dry from a 400w.
Throw this is a cabinet
for veg and one for flower and net a perpetual 3oz easy per month. No scrog. 31 day veg from seed. 3x3 would be awesome. But I pull 300+ form a 2x2 1 plant. So you can go small.
