My plants are a month old and i have now put 4 40 watt flourescent tube light above my plants, they are still in the 10 gallon pot i have them in. I now have a 1000 watt HPS light and am confused on how i am going to use it. Do i just take my plants and put them under the 1000 watt hps light? Are my plants to young? The space i am working with is a bit small about 20 feet long but only 4 feet 10 inches in height so the maximum space i can give my plants from the light is about 20 inches. Is that too close? I also have a 450watt HPS light, am i better of using that instead? how close can the 450watt light be to the plants? And i have one more question, My plants have been under four 40watt flourescent tube lights 24/7, When should i start doing 18/6 instead of 24/7???

Mount your 1000 watt light on a light mover at the very top of your space and use about 15 feet of your space for flowering. Use the other 5 feet and your 450 watt light for vegetative growth. Keep that well ventilated and I think you'd have a pretty sweet set up. Also, top your plants or use the SCROG method to prevent your flowers from getting too close to the light and burning.

edit: If the 450 watter is adding too much heat, you can always use your 4' floros for veg. I'd also go for a perpetual harvest. Keep the left 5 feet of flowering space for weeks 1 - 3, the center 5' for weeks 4 - 6, and the right 5' for weeks 7 - harvest.
