I am an outdoor grower, I am new to indoor but wanted to go this way just seems safer and alot easier to control so I converted my shed to a grow room I got the partition built and the Panda poly all installed as well as the light and exhuast and the flower room is almost done. I still got to mount my scrubber, should I mount it to the cieling or closer to the floor? I am running a Hydrofarms 600 watt hps light with the EYE HORT. super HPS bulb and the RADIANT Hood it sucks the air out of the room thru the filter threw the hood(which has a glass lens) and exits out the side.

First problem I am running a HIGH DOLLAR elicent 4" fan all steel construction, ball bearings but the sucking sound is alittle loud like a jet engine any ideas to muffle the sound?

Also can yall tell me a good soil to use for indoor growing I was looking at FOXFARMS Ocean Forrest And thier nuiets Big Grow,Big Bloom,Tiger Bloom I am use to growing outdoors but have decided I would like to try indoors I dont know much about Hydroponics so will keep it old school and use soil.

Also my flower room when done (hopfully today) will be completely covered in Panda Poly so with the 600 watter I should get great light dispersal in the room I am even doing the floor with the poly. So with that in mind how many plants can I flower in this set up ? I am legal to grow 8 is 8 plants to many? I only grow for personal use (medical condition) so 8 might be to many.

Next I heard to use 1 gallon pot for every 12" of plant growth so if I planned on vegging/growing 4'-5' plants can I plant my clones directly into a 6 gallon pot and do away with transplanting? Veg and straight into the flower room in the same pot?

Here are some pics will post more tonight when done hope yall can help me out here with my questions so I can finish the flower room and start on the veg side also linning it in panda poly and will be running 8 2 bulb flouros for a total of 16 bulbs 3 fixtures hanginf and 5 fixtures mounted to the wall behind the plants.

Thanks

Not really unless you buy a new fan thats quieter. You can try to muffle it but its like taping a bad muffler...just really doesnt work too well.

FFOF is some good shite, you can also use pro mix, coco coir, or perlite. If you do use FF or Pro Mix, mix in a good 30% of perlite to assist in drainage.

Also my flower room when done (hopfully today) will be completely covered in Panda Poly so with the 600 watter I should get great light dispersal in the room I am even doing the floor with the poly. What are your dimensions? Mine is 3x4x8 and 4 plants fills it up pretty well with no over crowding issues.

Next I heard to use 1 gallon pot for every 12" of plant growth so if I planned on vegging/growing 4'-5' plants can I plant my clones directly into a 6 gallon pot and do away with transplanting? Veg and straight into the flower room in the same pot? Dude, 6 gal pots are huge! I think 3 gal pots will give the girls enough to go 4-5'

Thanks Boneman!!

The shed is 12x12x8 I split the room so I ended up with my flower room being 5' 6" x 5' 6" with 8' cielings.

So your saying I can plant my clones in a 3 gal pot and veg them to 4' then in the same pot throw em in the flower room? Seems small to me, becuase wont they contiue to grow as they flower? Heres what I have got going right now. The two taller ones are Super Siver Haze and the short one is Purple Kush just bag seed plants I germinated about 2 months ago I grew em under only one 2 bulb flouro fixture with 48" Agro bulbs

I just recently added the fixture to the back about 2 weeks ago. The silver is is 24" and the kush is 19" they really started to fill in when I added the other tubes so 16 tubes all blue spectrum should grow some nice plants but the pots are 3 gallon and they just look small to me what do you think? I still got to take clones and sex the mothers but gonna be awhile before I do that I want the mothers(hopefully moms) to fill out some more.

Thanks

Well I have the flower room 99% done just have to run the elec from the veg room and I have a vent (open rectangle hole) on the side near the top I want to leave it open but prevent light from coming in. I know black on a 90 will stop light but this is rectangle not round, so I was thinking of building a 90 rectangle out of wood and painting the inside black any suggestions? I am building a small table to go in the corner to hold the ballast and fan and plan on building a box to enclose my fan in to sound proof it.

I also have the veg room just about done I got electric ran just have to mount the lights. So what do yall think so far?

Thanks

Why do you need lights sent to you? Are you in BFE or just trying to be stealthy? Get yourself a bunch of 150w CFLs from Home Depot or Lowe's. They will get you by until you can get something larger.

doesnt perlite add to the water retention and vermiculite for drainage?? also i use fox farm ocean forest and it is awesome. also fox farm makes another soil thats lighter and allows better drainage. either way looks great good luck.

You have it backwards, perlite for drainage and vermiculite for retention.

4personaluse- I really like the setup dude. There is a thread on here that shows you how to build a box around your exhaust fan, apparently it works pretty well to lower the noise. Insulated ducting works really well too

yeah you might want larger pots if you are planning on growing moms in them. more room = more roots = stronger plant. you cant over due it on pot size just whatever fits best for your set up. and depending how you prune them and how tall they get you could manage 8 plants. if you want more bud i would suggest growing the full 8 but only a foot and a half or two before you flower them. good luck looks like you have your work cut out hope to see more pics tho

Perlite and vermiculite both hold water you are correct there. But just because you have a link doesn't mean you know what you are talking about. Vermiculite holds much more water than perlite. Perlite is mainly used for adding aeration and drainage to a soil mix. Vermiculite is added to soil mixes that dry our very fast

Edit: I grow in 50% perlite and 50% peat moss dude

how about you show me some facts to back up your opinion. i posted that link because it contradicted what you said, not to be a dick. i want to know what is real and what is rumor. i have used both for a long time and not just for weed but in commercial green houses, we used both so i dont really remember which does what.

If you used both for so many years and have that much hands on experience you would know which is which. Nothing beats first hand experience and that is what a lot of people on this website including myself have. Look around the site and see how people use the two. I use perlite to promote great aeration and drainage in my soil as well as almost everyone on this site. Grow a plant in straight vermiculite and straight perlite and see how different each one is to maintain. You will be watering the perlite everyday and watering the vermiculite every three

go away, i came in asking a ? and u just cut it down like your king shit. all u keep saying is your right even though several gardening forums as well as manufacturers say otherwise. dont call my credibility into account just because i cant remember which is which. both are derived in a very similar manner and do basically the same thing. dick

How about you post a thread and ask the people on this site what their thoughts arel? I'm not trying to be a dick but you just seem like you are reading off of a website for your argument and not from any real knowledge of the topic. I could be wrong... but I doubt it  Now stop hijacking this dudes thread and make your own, sorry 4personaluse
