Hey guys I am currently running 2 1kw hps lights in blockbuster air cooled hoods. current venting goes as so carbon scrubber, hood, hood, fan, exit. I am pulling in fresh air via a 2'x3' vent in the wall with a removable furnace filter fitted in I also have an 8" duct booster fan to help bring in more fresh air to the other end of the room. What I want to so is run the exhaust for the room separate from the light exhaust. I have everything I need to do it but I am limited on my exit point. Can I use 1 6" exit with a 6" wye pipe. The fan for the lights will only be on when lights are on. Fan for the room air will be 24/7.

Sure you can use a Y for that, I would put a damper on it so you don't exhaust back in.

Thanks man I was looking at a damper for that reason. I am wondering how much restriction I will be encountering using the wye pipe. I plan on mounting the fans as close as possible to the wye pipe so I will have the least amount of resistance to push through. I am hoping to drop a few degrees in my room using this set up. instead of sucking warm ambient air in the room past the lights. My temps stay steady at about 77-79F I been running the lights at night to keep temps down. But I want to add another light in the near future without having to run a/c or using very little a/c in the summer. I am in the basement at the 45th parallel so its fairly cool year around.

Also The two fans im using are an 8" 746 cfm fan, and a 6" 424 cfm fan. What fan should I use for the light ducting and what fan for the room exhaust? my room is 15x12x8.
