Is the dimensions 8x9x5..... L, W and H respectively?

How many lights depends on how many plants you want to grow in that space. If just a few plants then a 400 or 600 watt HID should be fine. If you are planning on filling the whole space then you are going to need 2 400 or 600 watt HID lights (or one with a light mover).

You might consider a 1000 watt HID as well, although if you only have a height of 5' then I'm thinking once the plants get to about 3 or 4 feet the light would be too close to the canopy and burn the plants. Doable if you are planning on SCROG to keep them shorter in stature.

If you go with HID then you are likely going to have a heat issue... especially if you go with more then one light. I'm only running one 400 watt HPS and I had to put in a portable a/c.... without it the temps were around 95 F.

As to the fans.... well those dimensions give you 360 cubic feet. You are going to want intake and extract fans to keep the air fresh and moving in and out. I'd think you would do well with a couple of 350 cfm fans and a couple of 10" oscillating fans.

stanley makes a blower to dry concreete floors. you can buy it at wallmart or lowes or homedepot. it is yellow and black. it pushes 1000cfm and 6 in. duct fits on it. it is one way to pulll are for alot less $
