Grow Journal 2024

So a little backstory I used to grow when I was just out of high-school and did a lot of experimentation but then I moved and haven't grown in over 10 years. I just started a new grow and wanted to start a grow journal. There's been a few fuck ups already and it's been kinda difficult getting into the swing of things but here goes.

Set up =
vivosun 5x5 grow tent
Aerozesh T6 online Duct fan with Carbon Filter
Aerowave E6 grow tent fan
Aerolight 200wse LED full spectrum x 4
Aerolight 100wse LED full spectrum x 1
Seed starter trays with heating mat
15 gallon vivosun fabric grow bags
Foxfarm happy frog soil
Foxfarm grow big / tiger bloom / calmag/ big bloom /
2 different ph meters
EC meter
TDS meter
Vivosun soil ph / moisture meter

The strain =
King kush CBD auto x4

I didn't get pictures when I started and I started out a little funky because equipment was still coming in when I got my seeds. A little bit of a summary before I get to present day. Dipped my seeds in water for 24 hours before I placed them in seed starter trays on top of the heating mat. They popped after about 4 days but I lost 2 of the seeds. One by rot and the other by high temps. After the roots hit the bottom of the trays after almost another 4-5 days I quickly wet the medium till water was coming out the bottom of the tray and half a day later transplanted them into the 15 gallon grow bags. During seedling the 100w light between 50-80% was plenty (didn't realize the light had different spectrum options so ended up playing with the lights in manual till veg) once I transplanted the plants perked up the very next day and I put the 200w light and vent system on auto however the temps in my grow tent / room were out of range on the high end reaching almost 95 degrees with 28 humidity and a vpd of 3.2. I quickly watered the plants, went into the recipe and changed the grow lights to 50 percent for 18 hours and left the door of the tent open and temps dropped but I've still struggled to keep temps below 83 degrees F. Typical range is 83-87 degrees. Typical ph range for the RO water is 6.8-7.4 with the TDS being 0 and EC close to 800. I've also picked up a portable ac to help with temp issues. After mid 2nd week with RO water I've started big bloom and grow big but haven't taken any pictures yet however the plants are responding pretty well. Here are some pics to go with this summary. Also as a side note I didn't know what autos were and since I have only really worked with photoperiod plants I've had to make some quick adjustments which may end up fucking me in the end but you live and learn.

As a side note I didn't realize how strong the lights were and so in the pictures you will see some dark green foliage and spotting. Also there is a little bleaching on the tips but I feel that the plants are recovering.

Okay I just started week 3. I started the first round of nutes a couple days ago. Sprayed the foliage with clean RO water with 0 TDS and then put half gallon of nute laced water into each fabric pot mostly around the edges to promote root growth. Nute supplemented water tested out at 6.5 ph with a TDS of 885 (which is abnormally higher but just used filtered water instead of RO water) and a EC value of 1200 which is also abnormally high but I put it down to degradation of piping of the water supply. Once I install the RO unit at my house and run it into the filtered water I should get >300 TDS (hopefully). Checked the plants this morning they were good but when I checked them later on in the evening I noticed some pistils on the top node and a little bit of stretching. I'm going to try and feed big bloom and grow big before switching to tiger bloom, big bloom and calmag before the end of the 4th week to prep for bud production. Unless anyone has any other suggestions. I did notice a bit of a lighter green tint to the serrated leaves that look healthier but it could be overwatering as well? It's just not a super noticeable yellow yet.

Okay now we are into week four. I installed an portable A/C in the room but possibly a little too late as the plants have been showing a bit of heat stress. Both plants have been showing heavy pistil production. The first set of pictures are of the older plant and has been typical of what I've seen most of my previous grows look like at this point of time but for some reason the younger plant is just being super aggressive in veg. Too bad it's an auto because I'm sure the genetics on that plant are perfect and I would love to get clones from her. Have still been feeding RO water and filtered water with fox farm grow big and big bloom. Yesterday I gave each plant about 1 gallon each with 3 tsp big bloom and 2 tsp grow big before I switch over to tiger bloom/ big bloom / calmag at the end of the week for bud production. Will be feeding RO water before FFS because of the possible acidity of nutes and I don't want to drop below a 6 ph. Ph is still at 6.5 and tds of feed water at about 850. Here are some pictures.. you can see some tips drooping and a bit of canoeing on the larger plant but the dark green foliage and yellowing has disappeared.

We just entered week five, the plants have really started stretching and the stem has begun to harden a bit in preparation to really start budding. The long thinner plant, the flower has opened and a bit of terpene production has started which I found to be a little strange considering she just got into flower? The bustier plant has also almost doubled in size and the flower has opened but no trichomes at this time which I kind of figured would be the norm until probably the beginning of week 6? Always if I didn't say so before we have AC in the room so temps aren't jumping above 90 degrees but now humidity is starting to climb sometimes even getting up to 60 percent overnight which is bad and needs to be taken care of. I put in an auto drip irrigation system that I have to fine tune and it leaks a little bit it isn't terrible. I also made a homemade C02 generator with brewers yeast that the plants seem to enjoy but will be switching to champagne yeast by Thursday. (Don't want to dump so much money in for my first grow and buy a C02 kit but I've been looking at a couple) so this system is working just fine. I've installed the RO water system but since I'm leaving home for about a week and a half I filled my container with filtered water 30 gallons and I'm debating whether I should put in 0.25 x amount of nutes for 30 gallons so I can give a constant feed. Otherwise plants look healthy and things are going in the right direction. Here are some pics. Also if the plants look droopy is cause these pics were taken right before bedtime so no need to worry.

So now that I'm back from vacation I can give an update. Before I left I set up a grey 32 gallon barrel with a vivosun hydro pump and timer and was testing it. I set up the timer so that it would run for an hour and a half to which would equal about 1 gallon per plant. Unfortunately something must have glitches cause for some reason the timer turned the pump on waaaay earlier than I set it for and ran for 6 hours. Had I not got home and turned it off it would've kept going. Dumped about 16 gallons into the grow tent but thankfully vivosun sent a hydro catch basin that fits on the bottom of the tent when they sent the tent and saved my ass. Thank you Vivosun! Anyways.. got the timer and pump to work correctly and since I was going to be gone 2 weeks made a 32 gallon 1/2 batch supplement mix and set it to run mon/wed/Fri with sat and sun off. Today we are near the end of week 7 and the plants are showing some pretty big signs of chemical burns ( kind of expected) and overwatering (also a little expected) but all in all the plants look healthy and I'm going to be straight.. with the c02 system I have on place and the water routine the nugs look incredibly fat. I can't even see the stem in many places. And the girls REEK when I open the tent door. Thankfully no bugs and no mold as of yet but we are getting close. I'm expecting to maybe chop week 10? Here's some pics. Also I Want to make clear. The pics don't do the plants justice. They look way better in person haha.

I'm jumping in kinda late but damn nice to see ya making it happen after a long break. I too had been away for many years but I'm riding the green wave now. Great looking grow.

So I'm at the end of week 8. Looks like one of the plants has continued to progress through deficiency as I was not home for nearly 13 days amd was auto feeding with 1/4 the amount of nutrients they were supposed to be getting for that time. Regardless the buds themselves look quite good. I did cut a small lonely branch to test the nugs on it once they dry to see how close I am to chopping however I've researched this strain and according to records they average 9 weeks. So if everything lines up I may end up cutting these girls next week. One of the plants.. the bushier one has been eating her leaves.. many of them turning yellow or shriveling but the other plant still has vibrant green sugar leaves and it seems the buds just keep getting bigger and fatter. It's wild.

Edit- they were thirsty this morning so I took these pics right after watering. That's why leaves are droopy.

Nah man, all good in your grow. Almost over now. Ain't a one grow out there got somethin wrong..lol.

I get a lot of folks that drop in and leave advice. I am often outside the norm. All good. They mean well and I listen but what I do works too so I thank them and continue on..lol. Raked in almost 4lbs last grow so I'm doing okay.

Testers are a good way to go. I do that too. Samples quick dried are okay. They give ya a taste of what's to come in potency.

I never heard you mention a scope. Are you using one? That's is the way most gauge the triches near the end.

So this is almost over. What ya planning on growing next? I've got a regenerated C99 clone under a screen. 2 more flowering clones..Durban Poison, Tangie. Also just cracked 2 cap Junky Chem91 beans. Only running 5 for now but I do have a 4x4 empty. Hmmm what to put in there? Maybe some autos? I dunno what I wanna do yet. I just did that big grow n I'm enjoying the break.

I'm a peat grower. Love promix hp myco. Jacks nutrients, calcium nitrate, tap water, and Epsom is all I use. I never measure ph, ppm, ec, run off. That was a hard habit to break but now I can't even find my meter..lol I feed the same amount from seedling to harvest. If it needs water it gets Jack's.
I've grown in coco, peat, hydro, and soils. I've never found a easier combo than the peat, jacks, calnit n Epsom. It's fucking magic I tell ya...

Sorry man, I'm a lil high n rambling on. I can chat growing all day.

Haha that'd okay and yes I do have a scope through my phone that I've kinda been messing with. I'm hoping by the end of next week there should be maybe a few amber trichomes. My next grow might be red eye jedi, chernobyl, meltdown, and a couple others. But they're regs so I'm not sure if I want to breed and get feminized seeds or just leave them alone and try and get ad much bud as I can.

Alright so I'm at the end of week 9. I was going to post a few days earlier but I have seemed to run into a pretty big problem with most of the leaves wilting and yellowing for both plants. I feel this stems from the fact I was underfeeding them for 12 days at probably one of the most important times during flower but it was unavoidable. The branches have seemed to get so heavy with bud I can no longer keep them up as most of them are now leaning heavily despite tying most of them to support poles. Being autoflowers the breeders say the plants are about done at 9 weeks and the info seems to be spot on. So like I said last post before the get chopped week 10 on Wednesday morning. Here's a couple pics before the chop. (BTW they smell good and I did get a little tester nug and it was decent. Not fully dry or cured but the taste wasn't terrible and one bowl got me a pretty decent buzz) I would like to say there are still quite a few white pistils but I don't think I can wait any longer seeing as the plants are cannabilizing themselves so bad.

So the plants have been chopped and wet trimmed. The trimmings have gone into the freezer so I can make hash later. The nugs have gone into the grow tent and here's to hoping all goes well for the next five days.

I just got me a nice trim tray. Well, the wife surprised me with it. Problem is I don't do trim jail..lol. We use it as a rolling tray. Getting lots of fairy dust to collect.

Them some pretty buds ya got there. Ya did a good job.

The trim tray was a godsend for real. Don't think I got a lot of fairy dust cause it was a wet trim but I may end up dry trimming at a later time after I figure out a decently safe way to extract so I can make moon rocks. You don't do trim jail? Haha make someone else do it? And thank you. I really appreciate your kind words.
