I love plants they are so amazing. I've come here to share what little knowledge I have and lean from the pros.

How long have you been growing for?

I am here for the same reasons :) It took me a while to realize I have a new hobby. And the best hobby ever at that. What's a stamp collection when compared to a seed collection?!

Glad to have you around. You're already all over the place. Have you been a member here or at another forum before? The reason I ask is because most noobs are a little lost when it comes to forum navigation.

Anyway, I saw you had a thread and wanted to show some love. Keep it green(ish and kinda purple or red sometimes) ;)

I just finished my first grow not to long ago working on picking a strain for my next grow any advice on good genetics would be nice. Oh and I agree I with this as a hobby! I'd love to keep a scrap book to show my children (when the time comes) but we still are not there legally :(

I'm good with forum navigation because I use to play WOW for a pretty high end guild when I was in high school there were problems with me and the guild leader and his wife so I had to be removed from the guild. That's kind of where my interest in growing started. I like all plants but this one is my favorite!!

Any other questions? Nice meeting you.

With the genetics I'm currently working on finding something special for myself. I guess you need to identify what you like. For me, I got my medical card in CA and visited the dispensaries. I found I have a real fondness for Indica dominant Sativa hybrids, especially for Skunk and Blue genetics. I also love just about anything with Train Wreck in it.

Something I can recommend as a fairly easy to manage strain is DNA Genetics / Reserva Privada Kandy Kush x Skunk. This is a recently released strain that blew my world in pieces. It smells and tastes like if you got a thing of cotton candy that was skittle flavored. My avatar picture is one of the clones I had going in a small cab with a few CFL bulbs. I had to pull this one because it was leaning over sideways.

Really a gorgeous plant. Attitude is selling 13 reg seeds right now and you get a bonus 13 Pure Afghan seeds for free with the order.

Another strain I love to smoke but hate to grow is Durban Poison. It's a good 14 week flowering sativa, and the yield is anything but spectacular, but the smoke itself is unlike anything else. To be honest, it reminds me a little bit of this one time a buddy of mine put some red crystal opium in a blunt. I mean, just ridiculously high, like someone took the ceiling off the room and you just keep floating away. Eventually I plan on getting some regular Durban seeds and crossing a Durban Male with several of my favorite strains like Train Wreck, Blueberry, Skunk, and Big Bud.

I've been growing for about 6 years now, and I have a good 8 to 10 harvests under my belt depending on how you carve it. I'm still learning though.

I think I could really help you make that next step in your methods.

So what's your setup? Are you an Organo-phile? Ready to try out hydroponics?
I made the move to Coco Coir about 2 years ago and I love the stuff. Eventually I go back to soil mixes but for right now my coco is pure gold!

Here are my babies currently. This is from yesterday, which I'm establishing as the official "Day 1."

EZ is my own homemade strain. I named it Element Zero. It is a Big Bud crossed with a Mr. Nice (which is a G13 crossed with an Afghani Hash plant). The little "person" looking ones are supposed to be a cross with a halo, they are my Jesus seeds found in my last Cole Train (immaculate conception). Everything else is from Attitude. Chronic, Sour Kush, Sour Diesel, Motivation "Mota", Wappa, Sensi Star, Warlock, Ice, and Mind Bender. I figure somewhere in there is some good smoke ;)

Check out this Ice plant also, pretty wild stuff. Two plants from one seed.

I currently use Canna Nutrients Coco A+B, Rhizotonic, and PK 13/14, and Humboldt Nutrients Honey ES, Flavorful, Sea Mag, Myco Maximum, and Mayan Microzym, and Advanced Nutrients Nirvana and Big Bud.

Sitting around the place I have Fox Farms, Earth Juice, Botanicare, Organicare, and General Hydroponics products.

Let me know if you have any questions also. Very few cool people around here to talk with.

You mentioned sour diesel I had that last year it's my fave! I also saw the purplewrek that I wanted but they are sold out :( I've been making a list so after this grow I can do my ordering for what I want. I'm trying to prepare a fully diesel grow with 5 diesel strains affter these bubblelicious grow and I lean some cloning off them.

Right now I have a bubblelicious growing as a mother and 2 started flower from 2 weeks in veg. I just got my first set of pistols on one in flower 2 weeks after. So she is officially flowering now correct? Or not quite yet?

I have a 400w hps for flower, some cfls for the mothers (first time trying to clone)
I run ebb and flow with hydrotron rocks (started with hydro, is soil easier?)
Nutes right now are flora nova grow and bloom (I wish I would have went organic because of my heavy salt build up I must flush weekly in the later stages)

The ice is cute!! The baby has a baby!!

I have a very limited experience with Diesel so I'm really looking forward to this grow. I think I listed Sour D as one of my plants, but I was wrong. I have a Sour Kush and a Sour Cream both from DNA Genetics. They are Sour Diesel Cross Strains (I'm a believer in cross strains) and I've been planning on keeping them both around as mothers for the future.

Basically I have 7 fem'd seeds and 12 regular seeds. I'm only planning on finishing 7 to 9 plants in my 5x5 tent under a 1000w lamp so there's going to be a few extra plants I'm going to have to figure out something to do with. Might just clone them out, or give them to a friend, but I'm planning on a good 4 to 6 extra female plants come flower time. The diversity of genetics is going to be the fun part, some are going to get perfect nutrients, some will get too much, some will get too little. My whole plan here was to run what I know will work on my own strain and see what other strains work well on the same nutrient plan. Then in the future I can save myself a lot of trouble by growing myself the strains that will grow well side-by-side.

I totally anticipate at least 1 plant to completely tank during this grow.

Really great that you're working with a good mother plant. I hear those Bubblelicious plants are great for cloning purposes. I have plans to actually upgrade to an ebb'n'flow style grow also. I'm just trying to decide if I should just skip that all together and do a vertical coliseum NFT/Aeroponic setup. Time will tell, but I think having a flood table couldn't hurt so I'm probably picking one up next time around.

I find Hydro to be about as easy as Soil. Each has its specific knowledge base and rules of thumb.

Have fun rocking it hard. I'll be seeing you around.

Hmm I can not help you with this. And it's quite random for you to ask and why does it matter where the person is from?

I can help. What are you looking for?

But you need to explain why you are asking that question here.

How funny!

I take it you are girl like the picture? Can't tell these days.

I'm an old guy if you are so don't worry about me chasing your tail.

Welcome!

Let me review on your strains to suggest something if I can.. Nope no suggestion.. I just grew some Iced Grapefruit by Female seeds and I liked that. Smells goodly.

I work on breeding mood lifter strains here for medical use so I'm not up on the latest Fashion.

Drop a note on what you pick.. I'm sure it will be Fab..

Yeah I'm bringing up some bubblelicious right now, it's growing well but I'm a little dissatisfied on the speed but they can't all be winners right? I'll love them all the same.

I'm looking into dj short blueberry but am unable to find femanized does this strain come like that or is regular my only choice? It's expensive too, I'm guessing it's great genetics?

I'm not worried about Internet guys, I did have one stalk me when I was 16 and he was 37 eewww!! But anyway I learned how to protect myself on the Internet. ;)

Thanks for the welcome. What strains do you breed? How could I obtain one?

I would like to release in 2011 the Tiki-jo strains.

I breed for Mood lifters that allow clear mind functioning.

So my current two strains are Tiki-jo Sweet and Tiki-jo Kush. The sweet is more sedative and the kush is more clear minded. Both are 4 hour types.

You know that older guys that go after young girls have power & self esteem issues since the difference between a 16 and 37 for example is not a relationship where they have maturity in common.

Don't get me wrong I have young friends that are smarter than I but when it comes to the Bedroom it's a serious miss-match. I'm not a snob on age but usually it's not a good thing.

hey im late to this party but i gotta say i havent seen pure sour D grown but my roomate has some super sour double not exactly sure of genetics- its taking probably the longest of all his plants,
the strain you look for is really all about what you want from it,
do you want speed over how much it will yield, or vice versa
what do you prefer like sativa or indica?
dj shorts blueberry would be a good choice but the yield is not all too great, amazing smoke tho same with his flow turned pure purp in my roomates grow so tastey too.
if you want fast finishing id say go with some kush's, ive got 2 bubba's at week 7 and they are almost ready for harvest, but regretably the buds arent huge.
ask away if you gots questions i spend alot of time researching strains
and on a last not not creepy you are probably the most attractive grower ive seen. just sayin
peace,love, and happiness
Too Ernst norcal rules!

Thanks for the replies! Even if it is late. And thanks for the knowledge everyone has given!

As far as my preference I honestly I don't have enough experience with either (just stopped smoking regs when I started my first grow early this year). I like all kinds of smokes, but I guess I'm after a bud that will leave me trying to figure out what's going on on tv (you know the kind that makes you have to think about everything). LoL. In addition I would also like a very very uplifting bud, one that you can dance the night away (I love raves and glowsticks!!)

Feel free to pm me mcgyver I'll up my posts to 100 so I can pm back :).
