Grow Box Idea

Hello everyone!

Long time reader, first time poster here at rollitup.org. Anyways, I have an idea for a grow box setup. I have an old dresser that is not being used. I would like to make it air tight with some aquarium silicone. Then, I will cut off the droor parts of the front, and just keep the faces of the droors. I will then put these all together using screws, and silicone them as well. I will then use weatherproofing strips around the entire thing, and attach the droor fronts as a door with hinges on the dresser. To the untrained eye it will look like a regular dresser, however, it will open like a door, and inside will be my grow box! Since it will be like a refridgerator here, I will cut holes in the back to allow for fans and proper ventialtion.

I will then line the entire inside with reflective wallpaper. I will then screw in wooden notches on both sides about an inch apart the entire way down both sides. This will be where I slide my shelving into. I can put a fluorescent light at the top, and move the shelf down as my plants get bigger. I was thinking to add more lumens, I could put more fluorescent lights on the walls. (can't spend the money for the HID) I will keep my hydroponics tub under the shelf, as I don't see my plants getting over 2-3 feet tall.

I need ideas or any preforseen obstacles.

Thanks,
Xero

Lining the inside with mylar will make it really reflective. Or just paint it flat white

yea thats what i meant. I would coat the inside with mylar to make it super reflective. I am still not sure if this would make the lumens high enough since I would be using fluorescent lights instead of HID. I can put fluorescents all over but idk if I can get the same results with florescents as HID lights.

"Measure twice and cut once"... that's one piece of advice that helped me alot during my GB construction. I was going to make mine out of wood (2x4, plywood, etc.) but I read a post about a guy that did it in a cardboard box. I used my HDTV box (56" TV) and it has worked great! Honestly, I have been building/fixing/mending as I go and I haven't seen any adverse side effects to the plants. The height of your space is one thing that can be an obstacle and you should consider how tall the plants you will have can grow.

Thats what I was thinking. I don't think I will see any issues if everything goes as planned. I am a first time grower though, and was wondering your guys opinions. So you think I should take seeds from some dank shit that I've smoked, or do you think I should order special strains online?

I'm on my first grow too, I had 4 plants 3 turned out to be dudes and my lady is still going strong. I just used bagseed (actually the reason I decided to grow in the first place) and it has worked as a learning process with an added bonus at the end... bongsmilieMy grow should be complete with curing before the 4th of July and then I plan on buying some good stuff and use what I learned to improve this time around.
