Grow # 2 - PC Grow Box - Afghan - Pics!!

That is great information to know. I was actually looking at their boxes specifically. I thought yours looked familiar. Thank you for being honest with your feedback. I am in the same boat as you by not wanting to build my own and being very excited to get started. Your grow is doing great with the adjustments you have made to improve your pc box.

Like I said, I'm not going crazy on this grow,I flowered with this light before and it worked out just fine. It's a 125 watt, 65K spectrum,

OK folks, back to the grow...

The girl has been under 12/12 for 32 days now, but I'm sure she's stressed enough to go a few extra weeks until harvest.

My first grow with this thing I flowered for 12+ weeks!! but there were very extenuating circumstances.

First thing is to make sure I have all my supplys handy and a clean work surface

I sliced off some lower bud branches that were getting very little light. I should get this bub back X2 as the growth will now be direct into buds that are getting plenty of light...

I don't want to go crazy here, just trimming enough to provide adequate airflow and remove lower bud growth that isn't receiving any light.

These pics are of before, some trim, and after.

I believe this top cola was damaged when she hit the light. It almost looks mature but it's only a month on 12/12.

Any ideas anyone?

...and here's my lst. Because of the training I now have 4 or 5 top's. I rotate the plant every res change, which is about weekly.

She was set today to 5.7 ph and 800 ppm flower formula

Also enjoy seeing the plant in her little home

What Up,

Man, my journal is getting very little juice! I thought micro grows were popular. I know I searched for info on a PC growing when I got strarted and there was little out there.

ALL PC GROWERS - LET ME KNOW YOU'RE OUT THERE!!

We're 36 days into flowering and I think I retarded bud development in a few different ways.

1) Heat stress. Because the res only holds less then a gal of water it heats up very quickly from the light. As long as the box remains open during light hours it isn't a problem. But when I forget open it up the res goes over 80F

2) Pruning. The recent pruning I did to promote top bud growth seems to have slowed us down.

3) Light Leaks. One of the flaws of the pc box is that it's loaded with light leaks. During dark hours, it is nessessary to either a) keep the pc box in a completely dark room, or b) place a light-tight box over the pc box BEFORE the lights go out.

Placing a box over the set-up is the more practical choice but this leaves much room for human error. I will admit to forgetting to cover her up on a few occasions.

4) Flowering seedlings prematurely. Because there is such limited head room in a pc case you must start flowering plants when they're 2-3 inches tall. If you wait longer then this your plant will GREATLY outgrow the space in your pc case.

When growing from seed, 2-3" tall is usually not mature enough to flower. You can do it and grow fine plants, but you have a greater chance of hermie's and irregular bud formation (weak yields).

However, if you're growing from clones this is not an issuse, you can flower a clone as soon as it has good roots. If you take a clone from a mother when the mother is three months old, then the clone will have the characteristics of a three month old plant and can be flowered as soon as it has good roots.

But if you're growing from a pc case you probably don't have a cloning set-up, so premature flowering is an issue.

I flowered this plant @ 3" and she's now well over 14" LSTed

Here are all the books I've read. To the brand-new beginner I recommend the bottom one, "Grow Great Marijuana" by Logan Edwards, but I ejoyed and learned something different from them all!

Changed the res today and reversed the plant so she gets equall light. She drinks a gallon of water/nutes per week.

Let me start with saying BRAVO! Not only was your first grow journal exceptional, but this one you currently have going with the LST is good shit.

I like yourself went with homegrown-hydroponics and i have decided not to get to pissed about it and chalk it up as a learning experience. i sent them back the cfl bulb back in early dec and still have not been able to get any sort of follow-up or call back. anyways man, just wanted to give you kudos

here is pic of my pc grow 2 days ago. she is 28 days or so from seed and I was thinknin of switching over to 12/12 after reading your journal. she is right at 3in right now. how tall did you let yours get before you begun LST?

Thanks man, you got a good look'in little plant there.

I flowered mine when she was about 3" and she grew to about 14" while in 12/12. I started LSTing when she was 5 or 6" tall and it's worked really cool.

I pruned the plant once by stripping off the bottom buds that weren't getting any light. This has shifted the focus to top buds that get plenty of light. My only regret is that I should have thinned her out even more, because the top buds are really swelling!!!

I'v decided the pc grow case if a failed experiment when it comes to growing marijuana for its full life cycle.

During flowering the little plant drinks tons of water/nutes and if you don't fill it every two days it depletes its 1/2 gal res and the pant is stressed and the roots are dry. I'm not dedicated enough to do a water fill every two days.

I had brown root (root rot) issuses with both of my pc grows becuase it's so difficult to keep the res cool with such a small amount of water. These conditions will cause growth to scream to a halt and it will also take the plant forever to ripen.

However, the pc case will be perfect for cloning for sex. I can easily fit 24 clones in the box and give them a 12/12 cycle until they show their sex.

I will continue with this journal but after this grow I believe the pc box will be demoted to a "cloning for sex" station

This was interesting journal to read. I myself will start a Pc grow as soon as I get a sprout growing. I built my on box though so it's real shitty, but it will hopefully get the job done. I plan on growing in soil and to LST the plant around the pot rim. So it was nice to see a pc grow with LST. I'm sorry things didn't turn out better. Chalk it up to a learning expirience and don't let it get you down.
