Yeah mites suck I had them for a long time I took a small break and cleaned and bought all new pots and dirt honestly why I won't take any cuttings it's not safe as much as u want that strain just not worth the risk next lolI usually take my cuts right before I go into flower. Thin out the undergrowth. I dont "top" plants. Organic soil grower here.
I lost a whole set of keepers taking in a cut from a friend that had hemp mites ffs. So lost them. Hemp mites are the worst. I couldn't get rid of then no matter what I did and I did a lot. Only thing that worked was the burn pile. That hurt.
Now back to seed popping and taking cuts of all VEG plants.
Use a sulfur vaporizer.I got PM at our last home - we moved in Dec 2019.
After growing for 10 years never had PM that I noticed. AC went out in the old home last grow before move and PM showed up LATE flower BAD. Only thing I tried was Southern AG Garden Friendly Fungicide. It got me to harvest had to bud wash in peroxide, lemon juice and backing soda with 2 rinse buckets.
I had veg plants I brought with me. Keepers of years of work so they coming.
New home - completely clean new room to grow in. Cleaned it well with enzyme cleaner and vinegar. PM came back on the cuts I brought. I've been trying everything. I'm in my 2nd run and even tho I started new plants from seed and treated all the clones with everything including Green Cleaner, Serenade, Enzymatic cleaner, peroxide and repeat.
Environment is DIALED IN - I have geothermal heat replaced the filters (they filter mold spores and more), cleaned, cleaned again... cleaned again with enzyme cleaner/peroxide/vinegar.
Temps are 68-72F with 42-50RH all the time.
I'm still getting PM.
No too bad but I know the signs and take a leaf and look under a scope and sure enough its there.
My treatment that works so far is:
weekly foliar with Serenade
every other day foliar with peroxide and water
Weekly IPM (Spinosad cause there are other pests) with Green cleaner added.
This sorta works but not completely gone.
I wouldn't use it in flower, especially late flower as it will make the bud reek of sulfur. You use it before flower to clean room and plants. If you vape your rooms and plants in veg you can rid yourself of the PM. Without doing that it will be a fight that lasts forever as it will keep coming back and usually in late flower when you are pretty much fucked. Thanks @Renfro I just got one in the mail yesterday. About to chop several ladies likely next day or so. I was thinking to wait until after chop and using peroxide/water mix on the big ladies which is working very short term.
How close to harvest can I do a burn?
Yeah like he said I wouldn't use it in flower...I make dabs out of my buds and during my earlier years of making oil I've ran into what me and the wife call sulfur Kush it smells earthy but it's very apparent when dabbed I'd avoid that thing it's gross lolI wouldn't use it in flower, especially late flower as it will make the bud reek of sulfur. Terrible man sorry but thats the worst way to grow for this reason. Never have an empty room that you can clean really good. Perpetuate a problem...My issue is I have a perpetual grow so there are always flowers going.
I'm not growing the same strain. I grow high end gear for connoisseur friends. They expect variety. I deliver. I'm not growing a 15x20 room full of middies. I do ok for what its worth.Terrible man sorry but thats the worst way to grow for this reason. Never have an empty room that you can clean really good. Perpetuate a problem...
Well once again even though I put them in the room no PM room was cleaned top to bottom I ended up spending 3 hours sitting on the floor just looking at different angles on each plant and wiping spots of PM with isopropyl alcohol on a paper towel it's going to keep coming back untill I can vent this room I have a dehumidifier but I need the air exchange or else it will never go awayI'm not growing the same strain. I clean all the time, its a constant same with IPM I just never used a sulfur burner before. Looking for advice. Not changing my game.
I got hit with PM (new grow space at it was cleaned well) and took in hemp mites on a clone and quarantined the clones and treated them as if they had them. Still got those fvcks. I wasn't diligent and I should have never taken in a clone in the first place. Lesson lernt.
Going next week to get an exhaust fan and ducting gunna cut an intake hole and make a light trap then cut a hole and make a light trap with duct to my exhaust fan I have a 420 cf room I think I should buy a fan that exhausts at least 600 cfm probably an 8in fan because I plan to put a filter over my intake to keep any new molds or pests outWell once again even though I put them in the room no PM room was cleaned top to bottom I ended up spending 3 hours sitting on the floor just looking at different angles on each plant and wiping spots of PM with isopropyl alcohol on a paper towel it's going to keep coming back untill I can vent this
