green house seeds

I hear ppl that swear by them. And ppl who hate on them.... I kno they had germ issues with the.church a few months back....but other that that,could anyone tell me something about them, to me they seems like one of the better breeders, I got a ten pack of slh germing right now and after twenty four hours nine have popped....I'm psyched abiut them!!!

Truth is GHSC was a great company at one time when the ledgendary breeders Neville and Shantibaba worked there. Neville and shanti now work together at Mr. Nice Seeds. I'm not exactly sure what plants neville, arjan, and shanti worked on together, I do know that Neville is responsible for Neville's Haze. An incredible sativa that one must smoke to believe.
One story is that Neville and Arjan (current owner of GHSC) got into a lil tiff one day and they went their separate ways. This is where some of the shadiness of GHSC supposedly starts. It's not well known who ended up with what mother and father plants of what strains, meaning, plants that were sold pre-breakup as "Neville's Haze" or "Alaskan Ice" had a certain husbandry that gave seed buyers a guarantee that they would get the same plants in their growroom as the ones in GHSC's growroom. Post-breakup, GHSC is still selling the seeds that they made pre-breakup meaning it's not really the same plant anymore. So any plant that they don't own the original cuts or mothers/fathers and pollen to, isn't the same plant anymore.
It's also assumed that they stole plant cuts and clones of original mothers and fathers.

There's that story, and there's also the wide spread beleif that GHSC "buys" the cannabis cup through sneaky marketing and however else. That the only reason they win is because of how much money they spend on marketing..

All I know is that they've entered Super Lemon Haze in the cannabis cup 3 years in a row. Either they're running out of ideas or idk what.

I think it's hermie issues with the fems that's getting the complaints.
So many great companies out there why take the risk ?

I have had OK lucky with GHS.

Here is the problems i have had with GHS strains:
1. Poor germination with Green-O-Matic, Kings Kush, and The Church. (all had 2 or 3 seeds out of a 5 pack not germ)
2. Just down right HORRIBLE Germination with Big Bang. (5/5 did NOT germ)
3. The Green-O-Matic should have been an auto flowering plant, It was not. I had it vegging for 2.5months before moving it to 12/12 to start flowering.

GHS I have had good luck with:
I have had good luck with Trainwreck, and also Super Silver Haze. Trainwreck was an ok strain but nothing like the real deal Trainwreck. Real Trainwreck is more sativa. GHS Trainwreck is more indica, Very very small, and bushy with indica shaped leaves. The SSH is very tall and lanky with very few leaves and very spaced out nodes. It streched out very much (wasnt my lighting to made it stretch like it did). All in all the SSH and tw are decent and worth giving a try. I will prolly still buy other GHS strains i havent tried but out of the ones I have bought I would ONLY BUY the TW, and maybe SSH again, Never any of the others i'v listed.


But I can say this, I have NEVER (knock on wood) gotten a hermie from a GHS strain luckly. I really think most of the people that do get hermies just arent totally experienced growers (not saying I am), or things happen (and so do mistakes) and people mess up or get over confident when growing and the plant hermies, I think people would rather blame the breeder when plants hermie then who is really to blame them selves. But with anything living abnormalties do happen. Or breeder does get lazy and ruins a batch. but I can say only hermied out plant I ever got was from a unstable bag seed. and I did get 2 seeds from a LSD plant from my first ever grow but I never saw ne signs that the plant hermied.

after seeing the ridiculous amount of threads deleted and amount of people banned on icmag over greenhouse hermies and problems id only chance growing one of their strains if i could check them daily for balls, that said church outdoors aint bad for the money and results.

That is interesting, since it probably pre-dates my interest in these types of forums but what was the quality of the complaint posts? was it more along the lines of spam made by many low post count newbies or well known posters, with experience and possible grow journals?

If I had known this sooner I might have made some different choices. Eh, live and learn, I guess I will know if I made a mistake first hand, soon enough.

As an unrelated matter, it's somewhat disconcerting that I hear so many stories about deletion of threads on forums like this one. I hope RIU has it's heart in the right place.
