Green Crack, Great White Shark, Sweet Deep Grapefruit, Scrogg, Hydro, Coco, Soil...

First Journal, I've got a plethora of things going on right now, I'm using Heavy 16, House and Garden, Roots Organics, and I'm testing out a few other odds and ends. After I finish vegging my current set I'll be switching to a complete rockwool based veg process.

Current setup

GWS, and GC, (I also have a Pure Afghani #1, and Cheesus that I've had forever, they're getting the flowering treatment this round) vegging under a 4 ft 4 bulb T5, Current nutrients being run are a Heavy 16 with Hygrozyme and General Hydroponics Rapid Start. I've also inoculated my reservoir, with Great White. I'd rather be running veg under an 8 bulb, 4 ft, but I got a really good deal on the 4 bulb, (from a friend). Eventually these will all be moved to a separate flower room, but If you want to see what I'm running in my flower room, you'll have to check back later.

Underneath the 2x4 flood and drain table, I have a small 2 ft. 4 bulb H.O. T5, with 2 bulbs in the deep blue spectrum, and 2, 6500 spectrum bulbs. The genetics on those plants are Durban Poison x White Widow, and Sweet Deep Grapefruit. I'm pretty sure I'm going to stick with soil till the end for these plants, as they're all indica heavy, and I want to push their growth as much as possible. I'm using roots organic soil on all of them, and the next round I'll be using Foxfarm to test soil. I'm using roots organics nutrient line with these, and all OMRI certified additives.

I spray Azamax in my veg room regularly, and I've got a colony of Ladybugs, and sticky traps for prevention, and so far it's been working great, but I have noticed some fruit flies in other areas of the property, so I'm keeping constant vigil.

In case anyone is looking for a definitive answer the 48" 6 shelf wire racks that home depot sells are to small to properly fit a 2x4 foot Active Aqua flood table w/resevoir. That said, I managed to make mine work by installing the third shelf at the very top of the rack, and having an open shelf between the tray and the reservoir. Personally I like working like this a lot more than having to bend over every time I need to trim. I'm medical because I was hit by a pickup truck (that was going 65-70 mph) while I was skateboarding, and the less time spent bent over, the better. . The extra shelf has been very useful for holding extra odds and ends.

On a different note, If anyone out there is growing peppers, I just started a run of 8 different strains (including a few different kinds of Morugas, and a Scorpion #7) I'm new to peppers, and would love advice, as I just had 4 sprout. Can I run the same regimen as I would with a cannabis grow?

The first, second, and third photos, are 7 days from cutting. The next 5 are transplants on day 14. Photo 11 is the Cheesus a.k.a. Son of God. All the branchy plants are the G.C.

One main thing I want to impress, on anyone reading, is how important K is when cloning. I've read countless threads where someone gives advice to soak Rockwool cubes in a 1/4 strength grow solution, Forget it. You want to get your bloom solution, along with a bottle of Champagne, because your have roots worthy of celebration. Nitrogen inhibits root growth, and if you ask me, that's why a week into flowering produces the fastest rooting clippings.

Does anyone find this interesting? If not, I'll take this thread down, and save some server space.

Yeah. I am actually surprised it didnt frost sooner.

Is your GWS from seed, or did you get clones locally?

They're from seed, but they're clones off a mother plant. I have a feeling the GWS, are going to be monsters when all is said and done here.

New Update. Day 1 of flower, and the GC, are already starting to bush out. The secondary light is a 400 watt, and it's being replaced, by another 1000 watt raptor sometime this week, but I will most likely hang the 400 watt barebulb style, next to the plants . There's supplemental C02 pumping through drip feed tubing over top of the plants. The resevoir is DIY and cost a total of 17.00 dollars to set up. I have netting just waiting to be utilized. The veg tent is empty, as I rebuild my clone stock, but the money saved by not running the 6 bulb pioneer t5 will be put to good use. The wire racks, are one of the most useful purchases I've ever made, not only are they working great for holding my resevoir, and flood table, but they're handy for localizing all my veg nutrients, as well.

The small tent that's being used for propagation is a Secret Jardin DP90 the light inside it is a 2 ft, 4 bulb T5, from pioneer, and it fit's in perfectly. To much light is a bad thing, when propagating, so I turned it on it's side, to give direct light to the 5 plants that are being grown organically, and indirect light to the unrooted clones. As you can see I'm mainlining the organic plants using twist ties, I like starting my mainlining at this stage, because I have way more control, over their development.

Everything looks very healthy. Cant wait to see some progress on them in flower.

Gnats were found on the second day of flower. The only possible reason for this is the Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil that was purchase for the peppers, and vegetable crops. It's kept in a trash bin, that always has a lid on it. That lid was left off overnight, and the next morning there were gnats everywhere. They're blood suckers, and it's majorly upsetting, especially when the bags are 15.00 a piece... ARRRGGGHHH.

Yeah. That is the exact reason I quit purchasing roots organics. GREAT soil, but full of gnats.

GoGnats if you dont have anything to treat them with. Or Cedar Oil, thats essentially all it is.

Thanks, I talked to a hydro store owner about the problems, and he told me roots organics, was now putting nematodes in their soil to combat fungus gnats. Going in, I had heard that R.O. and FF were both having issues with fungus gnats, but honestly, I just thought they were rumors from other companies trying to scare off their client base. I was wrong.

Thanks for the tip, I'll see if I can hunt down either product. It really sucks, because cleanliness is my top priority. Aprons, and lab coats are worn in the room, and it's constantly being monitored, and cleaned. To get gnats from something out of my hands is sickening, and I'd really like to trash it, and get my money back.

I contacted both RO and Fox Farm about my gnat issues, R.O. was rather flippant, telling me that they can't control where distributors keep their soil. Fox Farm on the other hand asked me for i.d. numbers so they can find out where the infected soil came from, they gave me a list of ways to fight my gnat problem, and told me I could return their soil at anytime for a refund, or exchange. They also said to contact them further if I had any issues with the return. Long story short, they may both be having problems, but Fox Farm seemed way more sympathetic for the cause. I don't rep for them, and to be honest, I've switched to coco, but It's really nice knowing customer service isn't dead.

Thats a crock from R.O. They are well aware of where the bugs come from. It was a country wide issue.
Im actually going to be mixing my own soiless as well now, on top of super soil. just have to test around for bug free ingredients.

glad FF actually showed some initiative in fixing the issue.
