Granddaddy purple seed price variance

Looking to buy Graddaddy Purple feminized seeds. Scanning the webs, I see prices ranging from $7/seed all the way up to $50/seed for small quantities. Am I missing something? Is there a difference between $7 seed and a $50 seed?

Do research on the breeders. Some have well established breeding programs and can say with, almost, certain accuracy what traits you'll get. Some "breeders" are just chucking pollen and sending out whatever seeds they get. The price just reflects what the breeders think it's worth. Caveat emptor.

Generally, the top dollar seeds are from the original breeder and the rest are copies, some of which don't even bother to use the correct lineage. For GDP, I personally would only buy seeds produced by Grand Daddy Purp Genetics, the creator.

Original breeder does the work. Gets good name and a good product.

People jump on the gravy train with a copy and can undercut. Should be illegal to sell it by name IMO. They should say "our take on such and such"
