I ordered a Grand wardrobe from uhaul. Concord Dawn is the inspiration for this grow.
He has been doing good things with his box and i want to try my hand at soil for once.

As this thread develops i will add pictures and ask a zillion questions.

Question: what size pots and which kind is best?

Now that I got that out of the way, cant wait to see how things develop, nothing like growing weed outta a cardboard box! I have my soil plants in 2.5 gallon pots and the LOVE it.

I had good luck with the MG moisture control potting mix..not soil. Just dont over nute your plants early on. Heck I hardly had to feed mine during vegging. I guess it depends on how much you want to spend.

I wouldnt be feeding until flower because the soil will contain plenty of nutrients for the first month. its going to be two femed short rider autos so they will do their thing in 65 days or less. so i dont mind spending a few bucks on soil as long as its good.

any one used regular soil and added perlite to make it hold more water?

Ok i was checking out MG moisture control soil. it says that it helps avoid over/under watering. How often do you find you have to water with that soil? I will line the bottom of the pots with rocks to allow plenty of drainage.

I use Kellogg Patio Plus from home depot, and my plants like it, has comparable ingredients to some FoxFarm soil.

CD has inspired many of us with the results of his box, if I can find a place in my bedroom to fit one of them I plan to use it as a mother chamber and turn the mother closet into a nice SOG setup, until I have enough to last me. Good luck with the box subbed and excited!!

Thanks and welcome!

I am totally stoked about being able to grow for my self again. Im going to just do one chamber for now. I may build another one out for a flower chamber, so i have veg and flower covered. that would be sweet. next grow most likely though. Ive been growing hydro for over two years but this will be my first soil. I cannot wait to see the difference in smoke from soil verses hydro. i will also be starting 3 short riders at my caregivers house strictly hydro. So i can compare the results directly and see if soil or hydro delivers the best end product..Same nutrients will be used for each grow since gh flora series is good for soil or hydro. Lights will be exactly the same. Temp ranges will be the same. i think it will be a fun experiment!

I ordered a bag of foxfarm soil. Since its got so much nutrients in there, i wont need to feed at all in veg.

anyone used this soil?

TONS of people use that soil, and to some degree it set the Standard as far as natural high quality pot-growing soils are concerned. I'm sure you'll be very happy. What kinda hydro setup? I just started a DWC and am a few days in. First time in hydro AND i'm still new to this whole indoor growing lifestyle, so i have a HUGE learning curve, but I might be asking you a bunch of questions down the road.

DWC's are the easiest method of growing weed. If you have it setup, all you have to do is water it.

Get a quality nutrient trio

I'll hit home depot and pick up a couple 2 gallon pots for my ladies. Do the soil moisture meters actually work? I need advice on how to water a soil plant.

I have a mental block or something when it comes to sizes of fans, But heres a pic.

IMG_2354.jpg

I will use the fans as powered exhausts and use passive intakes. I will place the large fan high near the top of the cabinet as heat rises. midways down ill have the smaller fan as an exhaust. This catches some of the hot air left over. Ill make intake holes on the lower right and left sides near the plant deck. Ill mount a 6 inch fan inside the box to move air.

I am hoping by increasing the total growing space, i can be more effective in removing heat. I just have to hope cpu fans are enough..

nice setup, subbed! i just got myself the smaller "shorty wardrobe" also from u-haul, so i'm curious to see how your set up goes. can you give me a couple pointers on how to hook up those pc fans to a power source? i've been avoiding the issue by looking for regular plug-in fans... do you have to do manual wiring or is there something you can buy? thanks +rep!

You could also just use an old PC power supply if you can find one. Its not pretty, but it works if you have nothing else. Otherwise you can wire it up to a 9v adapter from old cell phones etc.

Check this link. Its a nice simple explanation with some pics etc

Edit: Also, nice to see a fresh grow starting up. Depending your your exact date we might be grown together. I'm in the final set up process for my dresser CFL grow. Just gotta get ma seeds.

Good luck and I'm sub'd.
