During the next phase of sentencing, family members and friends will likely contact the judge, traditionally by mail, to plead for leniency for the former first couple of Virginia.

right? wonder what the minimum sentence for those charges are?

i see they chose to report maximum sentence for extra media sensation.

even at 1 year per count that's 16 minimally.

i will say i read an article where she complained that they are elected officials who are just regular people with no budget for functions so she was forced to take gifts from constituents.

That's only if they aren't served concurrently.
I get a feeling any white-collar crime in the US will not be met with anything more than a 5 year sentence (unless it's of Bernie Madoff proportions). But I really don't know much about this story, having only heard a few blurbs about it on MSNBC or Bloomberg... How much money was involved? $180k ?

stealing more than $100 from wal-mart is not a misdemeanor in florida it's a felony.

so tired of elected officials getting away with shit.

can't wait until they really crack open chris christie's case.

And what will be the earliest they can apply for parole? One can't neglect that part.
You might be right, though. The nominal sentence could be something like that, but in the end it'll be on paper only.

On Wednesday, December 7, 2011, Blagojevich was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison.[127] He reported to prison on March 15, 2012 at Federal Correctional Institution, Englewood in Littleton, Colorado.[128] There is no parole in the Federal Prison System, and under federal rules Blagojevich will serve at least 85%, or 12 years, of his sentence after which time he may be eligible for early release (in 2024) based on good behavior.
