I recently took two little sample popcorn buds off of my AK48 plant. She's exactly on day #40 of flowering, two days away from starting week #7 of flowering.

90 TO 95% of the pistils are brown/amber/reddish in color.

Trichs are currently around 80% cloudy/foggy; 10% clear; and 10% dark red/amber

I'm going to let her go to the end of week #7 of flowering.. and then check her again and see where she's at as far as the trich color goes. The further down the plant you go.. the more mature the buds/trichs seem to be.

So I took two sample buds (again, small ones) to give it a test run. Well, instead of letting them dry for the usual 3 to 5 days before jarring them to start my cure.. I only let the two buds dry for about 10 hours before jarring them. So its pretty much an instant cure.. skipping the "drying" process.

I did this just as an experiment.. and so far every thing is going good. No mold problems at all. The only reason I haven't been attacked by mold.. is because I've been taking off the lid every 6 hours for 5 minutes. This way, I get rid of the stale chlorophyll filled air from inside the jar.. and let the buds air out and breath some as well letting fresh air back into the jar once I put them buds back into the jar.. and put the lid back on.

My question is.. has anyone else ever tried this?

I mean.. curing is nothing more than slowing the drying of the buds down to a very very slow and controlled rate. It also bleeds out the moisture from the buds.. and takes the chlorophyll with it. Chlorophyll is responsible for that "hay" or "green" smell everyone complains about.

anyhow.. if anyone else has ever tried this, let me know what your results were. Once again, my two little sample buds are doing great. We'll see how this goes. If all goes well.. I should get an even better smelling/tasting/potent product from this process.. than I would from the regular "5day air dry" and then the "cure".

anyhow, if anyone would like to join the conversation.. or possibly explain to me why this wouldn't work.. or possibly why it would work.. please feel free to do so.

peace.

I think it's still better to let it dry at least 2-3 days. The weather makes my buds dry really fast here (3-5 days), and they're dense too so they stay moist and start getting dry around day 3.

Also, if you had the jar half filled with wet nugs, the conditions would change since the moisture content would be a lot higher. Not only do you run the risk of mold but I find that with high moisture and poor circulation, drying/curing buds start taking on a brownish hue. Just my experience.
