Got The Knock And Talk @ 4 Am

So I was up very early this morning and I heard something at my door. I got up and looked through the peephole and I didn't see anyone. I open the door and poke my head out and see a guy with a German Shepard running around the corner and another guy posted up on the corner with a beanie on -- kinda odd for 4am :-?

I get a knock 5-10 minutes later and its the two plain clothes detectives I ran off from my front door.

Long story short -- one of the apartment maintenance guys was in my apartment unannounced and tipped them off and I got intimidated and consented to a search.

They ended up taking 9x foot-tall plants, a few lights, some mail, & my food scale from my kitchen. Of course they offered to drop charges if I become an informant.

Detectives were cool and laid back trying to be 'my friend' -- talking about beer, football, smoking pot and whatnot while they search my place. I kept my mouth shut.

Moral of the story:

Apartments are NEVER secure.

Never open the door.

I fail.

oooh, that's a bitch,..and you are correct. Growing in an appartment isn't a good idea. I grew 464 grams in a 1 bedroom appartment years ago right under everyones nose, but I was extremely lucky, and had a slack ass landlord. I would NEVER try it again.

Do not become an informant. It's really fucked up that they even do that to people, because it endangers you and people around you. There is a detective around here that has been doing that to people lately, and people are starting to figure out that he's setting people up, and the focus is turning from the people who narc, to the person who is getting them to narc, and he has some unpleasent days ahead of him.

They're not going to drop your charges, man. I mean, they might, but probably not. They're telling you that because they want you to cooperate.

I'm actually not too worried since the low weight should keep it a Class B misdemeanor and I have a squeaky clean record. In Texas -- the max is 180 days and/or @ $2000 fine. If I can skip by with no jail time, no license suspension, & get it off my record I'll be happy.

I just don't want it on my record as I've worked hard to keep it clean.

And yea -- I'm not falling for the whole informant thing.

they dident have a warrent ?
Yea, no warrant. I know -- broke the #1 rule :( Panic-mode set in....

Shit man, that sucks. I feel for you but hope you learned a valuable lesson. NEVER, EVER let them in without a warrant. Also, you may be able to sue your landlord, I am not sure how Texas works but in Cali, if you request it, the landlord is legally obligated to serve a resident with 24-48 prior WRITTEN notice. Unless they can prove that they had to enter due to an emergency, they legally have to give me one.

Hire a lawyer, keep a cool head, don't play tag and things will be cool.

This has just started. How mature were the plants? What did you say to them? Anything? LIke how experienced a grower and/or dealer you are percieved by the cops? Everything will be held against you. Keep us updated. Curious about the outcome in Tejas? Yep, Hard to learn now but it's now their turn to see you explain it to the judge. Any talking a cop is doing to buddy up to you is fools gold. Nothing good can come from it. I hope you have some money for a good lawyer b/c you will need it. Get help from the Norml site on a lawyer with weed experience. Good luck!

Read a case today, with warrant, the Police knocked 3 or 4 time, 5 seconds, then bust in. The Fed. Court ruled that the Police violated reasonable prior notice, & kicked the shit out of Court. But this probably does not apply, but maybe.

"almost all his rights"

are you sure about that? how about simply his right to illegal search and seizure? all his other rights are very much intact.
