Yep, starting a op in a 6x6 bathroom with almost a 10 ft ceiling..I will be using a 1000 watt hps and need to know how many cfm's for the exhaust fan? The diy section says mutiply length x width x height..for one exchange per minute BUT recommends 3-5 exchanges per minute..so does that mean I multiply the amt by 3 to 5 to get that many exchanges per minute?? If so, that means I am looking at 980min to 1800 max cfm's for this room????? What size carbon filter for this room size and where exactly is that installed to?

Also I have ABSOLUTLEY no way to bring in cool air at floor level...I have no attic or garage and the structure of the exterior of the bathroom is cinderblock ( which I choose not to have drilled through)...so now what for intake??????

I noticed throughout ALL these threads and worlds of information....I never noticed any handdrawn pics of intake/outtake/carbon filters/ etc....some of us need pictures to help navigate our way through..words aren't always enough!! Anybody got a simple drawing ( blueprint persay) of venilation basics???

Any help is surely appreciated>>>>>

You will need to cool that light separete from the rest of your air handling system.Al B Fuct just recently, well in the last few months, posted his cool tube installation, I am sure he would have listed the capacity of his fans, might be posted in metrics. Its in his thread Get A Harvest Every Two Weeks

I have always found this confusing. I made sure I could exchange the air in my room ever three minutes. I use a 500cfm fan for the area I have.

The carbon filters are rated by the cubic feet per minute you can put thru them and the would be in the line of your exhaust fan some where,

You will have to be able to make up the air you take out of the room, otherwise you would kill your plants. I don' know how you are going to exhaust it of your can't find a spot for intake??

Rollitup posted drawings of how to set up a proper grow area, three versions all in the same thread about two years ago. You might have better luck finding this information in Grow Room Design Threads.
In order to have an indoor grow, particullarly if you are going to use a 1000watt furnace, you will need three parts to your air handling system. The first part would be to cool that furnace, second would be exhaust and intake too replace the co2 depleted air and bring in 'fresh' air, and the third would be an oscillating fan moving the air around, blowing your plants around a little, which will also strengthen their stems.

Any help is surely appreciated>>>>>
Hope this helps, VV:blsmoke:

You are sooooo sweet VictorV for your time and information...you said you use a 500 cfm for the space you have....but what about my size room? The same cfm's? Do all the fans ( intake and exhaust) rated by cfm's and if so...do all of mine need to be the same cfm? I went to Home Depot to the bathroom vents and they only have low rated cfm's. I thought carbon filters go by lbs instead of cfm's??

So for my room ( 6x6x10) I will need intake/exhaust/carbon filter all the SAME cfm's?

And actually, I am on a serious budget..my 1000 watt hps doesn't even have a reflector and I was thinking about going with Al.B Fuct's diy batwing reflector...if so, there is really no way to vent heat from that type..any other ideas about venting heat from it then....I will look into the cooltube thing right after I send this out....thanks again

Not necessarily. Your intake could even be passive, you would just have to allow for twice the space for intake as the capacity of the exhaust, ie a 6" exhuast would require a foot of intake opening. The exhaust fan is the driver, it pushes or pulls stale air out of the room. That amount of air needs to be replaced with fresh air. The cfm's of the exhaust fan and the air cleaning amount for the carbon filter would be similar, all of the folks that sell them should be able to match you up.
The cool tube is going to be a closed system, cool air blown thru the tube and out of the area, far enough so it doesn't just recirculate.
I have a larger area, I only have one of the hps lights in that area. its about 10 x 14 + the office space and between 8 and 10' tall. Southfloridian posted a thread, some thing like These Fans are the real deal guys. I am probably going to order some fans from the one he lists as the least expensive.

I believe you are on a budget, so am I. You simply must be able to put air handling systems in place to grow under a 1000watt light, period, no way around it. Bathroom exhaust ducting might be able to be enlarged for venting depending on were it goes??

and you listen to VV.... He is good.
VV This lady found me last night. told her to make a room and YOU fellers would help her .
I knew you guys would.

Your going to Love having your little room. makes it easy as you go along to find the helpful things folks tell you. I am not good at the verbiage. BUT Have been blessed with folks saying it real simple. 10 foot ceiling oooo sweet. I did not go with the air intake.... it gets to cold here so figured use one 6"fan to vent the room out threw the chimney..making a neg. Pressure.{thats the Email Air I talk about}. and just got one 4" fan to blow the air from the light outside. by having the 4"outside the room then going threw the light and right out the old hole that was already there to go outside there is NO smell threw that. no need for carbonfilter. I read where folks hooked it into the sewer pipe gas pipe that go's up the side of the house and is at roof level. ooooooo looked at 110 different ways before I decided. and then I have a few rather UGLY but working oscillating fans to circulate the air and simulate the wind to promote healthy growth.
