yep, we can't point at one thing and attribute it to an entire outcome.

We did rebound nicely from the short recession after the tech bubble burst. This rebound and full employment did coincide with the tax cuts. It could be coincidence but discounting them as having no affect would be foolhardy.

Tax cuts will always have an immediate effect. Tax cuts on the middle class will usually have a lasting effect - tax cuts on the wealthy have no effect. But we are talking about two different effects here - one is increased revenue - i.e. the laffer curve, and the other is how the economy fairs.

Tax cuts for the wealthy neither help the economy nor help government revenue. The only people who actually believe in "trickle down" are those who have been suckered by the rich into doing so. By no real measure has it ever done any good on that front. The only thing that allowing the rich to have more of their money does is enable them to fund even more legislation to allow them to keep even more of their money.

I expect that behavior from rich greedy bastaches, that's why I think we should hold elected public officials to a higher standard and point the finger at them when they enact such legislation.
