IMO the only good thing the "blackout" is accomplishing is raising awareness because of the links on the blacked out sites. Otherwise IMO it's just jerking off. Do you think the politicians care if websites go dark for a day? Not at all. What CAN help are the petitions/form letters etc that are linked all over, THAT is the voice of the people.

And per most of the news stories I've read, there likely is not a consensus on it for the 24th to be a viable date, and the White House says they are prepared to veto it on the slim chance it goes thru. Plans are to re-introduce it a few months down the road

Yes, I do expect them to care. Not that the sites are dark, but that the people now know.

I posted a link to BBC. At the end of the article it states:

"What remains are two pieces of legislation that are narrowly tailored and commercially reasonable for taking an effective swipe at the business models of rogue sites."


The proposed legislation would allow the Department of Justice and content owners to seek court orders against any site accused of "enabling or facilitating" piracy.​
