good yield?

So I've had three successful harvest so far. My first was with bag seed and cfl all the way threw. I ended up harvesting 2 females one at 1.5oz the other at 2oz. My second harvest was done with train wreck clones veg under cfl for a month and 1000mh for 3 weeks and flowered under 1000hps. 6 plants flowered for 11 weeks from flip. They all yeild around 1.5oz except one wich was a little over 2oz. My last harvest was with 2 train wreck veg at 5mnths under cfl. Got 4oz a plant. I know there are alot of factors in yield but what should I be expecting? Should I be pulling 4 to 6 oz a plant or is 2oz a good avrage?

I was joking, not sure exactly what you want to know.I'm wondering why the switch back to cfl

I get 0.9 to 1.3g per watt. That's one way to look at it. But, it's a little skewed because I might run Cree LED bulbs at 20w / sq ft. 20g per sq ft isn't that great, but it's really good for the amount of energy used.

I get about 30g/sq ft, which is another way to look at it. That's a measure of the effectiveness of your space. I've gotten close to 40g/sq ft using T5HO and some CFLs as sidelighting in flower. I ran 50w/sq ft, so the g/w was lower than 1. But, the yeild per sq ft was higher than normal.

An average between g/w and g/sq ft would be a way to balance those two factors.

Another factor is time. I did 12/12 from seed and got 20-30g from each plant. Not great, but I could start a new grow sooner. Or, some people "mainline" a plant into a large, lateral bush. That takes more time for more yield.

And then there's height. I can get 250g from a 2x2 space in a 7' tall plant, whereas 180g is typical of an autoflower in the same 2x2 space, but 4' tall tent.

So, now we're talking about g/cu ft.

There are so many variables.

If you're doing that HPS in a 7' tall space, growing in 3gal containers, I think you should expect more.

Ok I think my area is about 8 ft tall but I try to keep my plants at 4 ft because I'm short. How many plants do you think I should run under the light for a max yeild? Also I got the light and bulbs used so I mite need a new bulb

Whats your veg method? What pots and soil ect? 5 months vegged would be a HUGGGE plant indoors, that should suck your 1000watts by itself. Were the buds big all around the tops? Or bigger in certain area's?

They were 4 1/2 feet tall and very wide. I use promix soil. Start in 8oz container move to 1 gal then to 3-5gal for flower. I top ALOT! So there was alot of recovery time during the veg. And I ended with 4oz a plant.

A 1000w HPS should cover 4x4 at 62.5w/sq ft. That sounds "normal" for HPS. You should be able to have 5 4-foot tall plants in 3gal containers. Probably 200g each. It depends on strain.

If you're limited on the height you want to grow, you might investigate LST (low-stress training), topping. Try to maximize your horizontal space.

What soil and nutrient(s) do you use? You have plenty of air exchange? Some circulation to move the air around the plants?

I use promix soil. .
Which one? Pro-Mix is known for soilless, not soil. But, they have recently gone big into the consumer market and seem to be selling soils. So, maybe you're using one of those?

How often did you water? (How long between wet/dry cycles?).

Wow. Something is wrong bro. You said your last harvest was vegged for 5 months? Did they not get root bound in 5 gallons? That would indicate roots/medi issues.

I do top and train my fist two bag seed I harvested at about a foot and a half. But I got theses clones from someone and they were already tall when I started. Now I'm working with my own clones they will probably end at about 2 1/2 3ft. I use promix and the full line of Fox farm nutes. I have 2 big oscillating fans and two extraction fans.

I use the soiless. Can't remember what it is just promix. And I usually let them dry pretty good to the point were they start to look thirsty I don't count days realy

All I can think of is to try not topping. Maybe you're over-doing it.

Or, try different strains.

Or, try different soil and nutes. You can see what I do here.

Pay more attention to what soil you're using, the details of how long it takes to water, etc.

Maybe start a grow journal in the journals forum and ask people to follow along and help you. I'm doing a MiracleGro right now. Get all your details in there like that.

My mentor so to speak has been doing this for over 20 yrs. He said 2oz is a great yield and 4 is unbelivable. Then I see all these people talking about pulling 6oz a plant and shit

I was thinking about trying ocean forest. I'm curemtly running side by side test to see the diffrent in yield when topped and not topped at several stages. I will probably try a diffrent nutritient line when my current runs out.

How old's your bulb? Those need replacing. They lose efficiency.

You might look at CMH. People who use them seem to love them. Phillips All Start will run in a traditional MH magnetic ballast. They make a Retro branded bulb to run in an HPS ballast.

Is cmh a brand? Idk how old they are like I said I got them used so I probably need a replacement
